Anyone know if someone does a Xmas day / dinner in Khon kaen?

The buffet at Pullman is great, however, there are 12 Days of Christmas. Weekends and holidays often find Isaan families from Bangkok and Bangkok families with Isaan connections at the buffet with kids that run around like it was the playground at McDonald's and playing with the buffet food.

My recommendation: Find another one of the 12 days other than new years or a weekend to go

Sounds horrendous. Nothing worse than out of control brats.

Pullman is by far the best bet, but it is expensive for what you get.

You get the choice of 2 sittings, and if you choose the early one, once you are finished with the eating part, they like to move you away to make preparations for the second sitting.

Sounds like the holiday camps of the 50's. Saying that I loved the holiday camps as a run around brat .

Yes me too love it, as Thai people don't celibate xmas it will be just another day here and I will do a chicken for us with roast spuds all the veg and home made stuffing. It's great how many years have I been moaning about xmas being over comercialised at least this year it will be simple

I haven't been to the Pullman buffet in a while -- maybe I'll go on the 28th, the 4th day-of-Christmas as in

On the fourth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Four Calling Birds
Three French Hens
Two Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

You don't like true love? Now if you could just find a place that had a good Christmas dinner and also sold small o-rings you'd be all set.

Please no more bloody xmas talk go native xmas is not a holiday in fact it's not even recognised here. So sod the turtle doves and all that crap. Just saying

BS -- the checkout girls at the TescoL and BigC are wearing those red & white stocking caps or wearing those reindeer antler hairpieces. What do you think those are for -- a sale on reindeer steaks?

However when people ask back home What do they call Christmas in Thailand? I say (this year) FRIDAY! although the official word for Christmas in Thailand is Kreet Mah

BTW to the above post from 202: Steady as she goes (or they go).

Maybe because they tesco and big c are owned by western businesses and there told to wear them for the tourists and long stay Farangs. Not one Thai I have talked to in village is celabrating xmas in any way

Thais don't celebrate Christmas. There aren't enough tourist or long-term farang where I live to make it worthwhile. But if it ain't celebrated in the village I guess it ain't celebrated.

I saw a pallet of fake Christmas trees (made n China) that would be 20 for each farang that shops there.

Tiki bar owner said he was doing something for Xmas but i think more in line with a buffet or a Aussie barbie.

If he does the barbie I will be there much prefer sausage and steak sarnies than a Xmas dinner, yokotai does deliver food to tiki bar, so food not up to scratch I am sure they wood bring a meal over.

Being a Yank, my favorite thing about non-Christmas in Thailand is not having to listen to those Salvation Army Bell Ringers every time I go out to shop from Thanksgiving until Christmas.

No video (although they are on YouTube) -- if you're from US, you already know and, if you're not from US, you don't want to know.

looks like Pullman is the place (only) smile.png

I wouldn't be too sure but with Thailand banning the import of turkey, maybe so. Couldn't the USA and the UK ban the import of Thai rice? We all know that Thai rice can make one illogical, bad at driving and a little greedy don't we!!!!

Frk me! I wondered why I'd been experiencing all those traits in others living here. Don't start me on the driving! I tell my missus it's like being in a video game where everyone is trying to kill you. It's nothing for me to have a motorbike passing me on the inside and outside, an idiot pull out from a side soi and cut me off whilst having some suicidal lunatic coming towards me on the wrong side of the road...all at the same time!
