Cambodia has purchased new aviation software that will allow it to better manage air traffic, and reduce flying time and CO2 emissions, the Council of Ministers announced yesterday, noting that the purchase was made with a grant from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency.

Deputy Prime Minister Sok An welcomed the new aircraft traffic management system, saying the satellite technology it uses will increase confidence in safety at Cambodian airports. “It is a new step that will see airlines gain more confidence in landing at Cambodian airports,” Mr. Sok An said, adding that the new system will also promote the development of human resources in Cambodia as airport staff here will be trained on how to use the most advanced technology.

“The Program Highlights Airline Route [software] applies a new guiding system and strengthens capacity to manage traffic via satellite. Cambodia made another achievement by receiving this modern technology that allows aircraft to be guided via satellite, ensuring greater safety, shortening traveling time, and reduce fuel use and CO2 emissions,” Mr. Sok An said.
