Fugitive Chinese finance executive had plastic surgery, caught in Thailand - Xinhua

SHANGHAI -- Chinese police have detained a senior investment executive who was allegedly involved in illegal fundraising and embezzlement of 160 million yuan (17 million pounds), state media reported, despite him fleeing to Thailand and undergoing plastic surgery.

Police in China's Jiangxi province said they made the arrest in late November in Pattaya in southern Thailand, the official Xinhua news agency said late on Thursday.

China has been cracking down on risky and illegal behaviour in the finance sector since a stock market crash in the summer, which spooked regulators and central government, pulling in senior finance executives and officials for questioning.

The Chinese government is setting an example for Thailand - corrupt officials and business people need to be exposed and dealt with, mercilessly.

A hundred and sixty million Yuan - how much is enough? Nobody should ever have unrestricted access to such large amounts...

Hopefully the plastic surgery was botched and he really "loses face". bah.gif

Would be curious to see the before and after shots.

The after look will probably includes round eyes instead of the usual ones....

How can the Chinese make an arrest in Thailand?

Court the guy in Pattaya and bring him over to Cambodia, Laos or Myanmar. Another possible way is to return with a Chinese VIP or government delegation. Thailand is extremely flexible when it is about China.

....Bingo....how can they make an arrest in Thailand? Seems to me it was all explained why not in the Koh Tao case.....

-------------------

It can be done by an international warrant from Interpol......legally.....the person can be detained by the Thai police and turned over to a official of the issuing country

What a waste of plastic surgery! A bullet through the back of the head would blast off the new face...

Maybe the Chinese like to spin as much as the Thais - there have been two cases this year where arrests were made (even reported) in Cambodia yet the Thai press quoted officials stating they had been arrested in Thailand...

Or just further evidence that Thailand will become one of the 'provinces' in the not too distant future...

You'd be shocked what else goes on out of view in the real world. I've even heard lies about people being tortured in Guantanamo if you can believe that. The Vice President of the United States wouldn't stand for something as sinister as that on his watch if anybody knew.

I wish the USA would start to prosecute the bankers, hedge fund managers and other corrupt scumbags like this guy, but then they would have no one to fund their obscenely expensive election campaigns!!!

Pretty sad when China has to teach you how to police your financial institutions.

Trump is on record as saying he will end the fund managers' gravy train, beginning with tax reform. That would be a good first step and more than any other politician has done. Obama is in bed with the most corrupt fund manager, who happens also to be a Jew that sympathized with the Nazis against his own people in WWII, George Soros. Soros is also implicated in the currency crisis that brought down SE Asia in the late 1990s and is prohibited from entering several SE Asian countries.
