Thanks all.

Perhaps I have reached the final exit.

I'm from NYC and (after my divorce in '78) had a great life.

Private parties, orgies every week.

My mother told me I would have "as sad awakening".

My father told me all good things must come to and end.

Guess I'll just ride off into the sunset like LBJ after the war did him in.

If the geezer can't affored [sic] Bangkok, no wonder he's bored.

Bangkok really doesn't need another skint douchebag pensioner looking for slease, nor does Pattaya I imagine,

Pop orf home laddie....

Better pompous millionaires such as your self eh,who is doomed to come a cropper.Give me honest old codgers who still can get it up,any day of the week.

I was hoping for some good answers to this question. Unfortunately, so far, everybody wants to comment on his spending habits or know where he lives in Bkk. Doesn't matter where he lives, he wants to move. Any suggestions of where?

sad.png

I don't know the guy, but it can matter very much what are his spending habits. If he can't afford BKK then it's going to be difficult to find a city where he can live more cheaply ... AND still have his desired sleaze factor.

Phnom Penh comes to mind. It's very sleazy (too much for me to live) and a bit cheaper than BKK. Perhaps Saigon, but I find the prices comparable to BKK.

Don't you have any suggestions of where?

Thanks, was hoping someplace in Cambodia could do the trick.

My main problem is routine monthly medical bills 0f 10,000 baht at Bumrungrad.

Can live comfortably with this but worry about anything major.

As for the sleaze factor I need an "underground" nightlife for people with alternative life styles (BDSM, Fetish, Goth, Gay, etc."

To use the 1970's slogan: sex, drugs and rock n roll. Much like Bangkok in the late 20th century.

Whoa ...Whoa....Waaaaay too much information.....lol

Mmm,that's Cha Am out then.

Everything your looking for could endanger your seemingly precarious health situation and you could end up with more than 10,000 bahts a month at Bumrungrad. I don't know your age but the lifestyle your looking for looks dangerous. Something "major" could indeed be coming your way. If your lucky you could end up a stiff with a smile on your face.

How about Hua Hin? Slightly sleazy and cheaper.

Where the hell is Hua Hin sleazy? I saw PG-13 there at best...

Last time I went out hunting there, there were a couple bars with washed-up looking porkers trying to reel in customers :-S

There are about 70 bars, dozens of massage parlors, and discos that attract a lot of freelancers. There is a lot of action in HH. And it beats the hell out of Pattaya. Its a rather nice town. A lot of funky looking gals, but the same could be said about Bangkok. There is talent, if you spend the time looking. Not sure it is that much cheaper than Bangkok. Food is reasonable. Rents are high, but probably cheaper than Bangkok. Girls, about the same.

I hear Ecuador is The World’s Number 1 Retirement Haven though this would mean you have to leave Thailand sad.png

From the quaint town of Cotacachi to the vibrant capital, Quito, from Salinas by the sea to the peaks of the Andes, Ecuador’s diversity is a key part of the massive appeal that sees it regain the coveted top spot on this year’s retirement index whereas Thailand is number 10 on the list.

The cost of living is low. “A doctor’s visit will set you back around US$10, while a main course in a restaurant can be had for as little as US$2.50. The bus trip from Cotacachi to Otavalo will cost you 25 cents. For big-ticket items like real estate, you can get a lot more for your dollar here a new 2 bed condo 160sm with ocean views for US$75,000. A couple can live well here on US$1,400 a month, including rent.” Not sure how that rates with Bangkok.

You’ll find world-class medical facilities in big cities throughout the country, and you can catch direct flights to and from the States . Good Internet is more readily available than ever. Public transportation is so efficient that many expats report not having to even buy a car.

Not sure if Ecuador has the "sleezy" part you are looking for.

Thank you.

Researched Ecuador before deciding on Bangkok.

You guessed it; no sleaze factor.

My neighbor immigrated from Ecuador to the US and told me to forget about it.

Boring as hell and not for me.

Jakarta, Manilla, Angeles City, Pattaya, Ho Chi Min City, Delhi, Phnom Phen, Vientiane, take your pick !

Thank you.

Of the places you mention, Angeles City is worth a try.

Heard it was quite an active place and is high on my agenda; maybe even #1.

If you want a nice medium size town with a little sleazy part come to Cha-am.. We have Soi bust-stop full of bars and girls.. Every town in Thailand is a little sleazy. Cha-am is 170 k's South East of BKK and its only 25 k's further to Huahin which ahs a little bit more sleazier with more bars and girls than Cha-am.

Cha-am is a nice city with a long Esplanade right on the beach and has a nice holiday feel about it. Many expats live hear hence you can Buy most things an expat needs.. We have a "farang" owned supermarket plus a medium size BigC which sell most of what you you need. Good shopping is in Huahin which costs 40 bt in a minivan to Market Village shopping Centre which has a full size Tesco with 2 food courts. We also have many expat bakers hear plus a French coffee shop/café which also sells a good variety of bread, cake and pastry products, plenty of good resturants with Thai/Farang food. If you like the USA junk there is a Mcdonalds hear. Huahin has 2 McDonalds, 2 burger Kings and 2 KFC's. If you live hear and are a social it doesn't take long to find out where to buy what .. You will soon discover as its easy..

BEST of all is being on the Ocean Cha-am is a lot cooler than Bangkok. A nice see breeze is hear most of the time for you ..

Acomodation is cheap. I am in a large furnished townhouse near new for 3 months which short term is 10000 bt a month.. Would be cheaper in March for a long term rental.. An older Condo building on the beachfront with a pool where I used to live for 10 years has furnished studio's for 7000 to 8000 bt a month .. POSITION .. POSITION ..

I can put you on to a rental lady who manages renovated rooms and has good rooms in that price range... There is an over supply and plenty of rentals available ...James

Thanks for your detailed report.

Perhaps a place like Cha-am will do the trick.

Guess the old days are gone and will have to settle.

when I read your questions and remarks (Jamestip2013) you defently are in the worng part of the world and have to move to South America.

what you look for is there. and the medical care is even cheaper too for what you need.

Tiajuana and Rio are probably good for you. Uraguay would be a good backup.

Have been to both and both scare me.

Wouldn't even walk down the street in daylight in Tiajuana.

Rio is exciting but not worth the chance in my opinion.

Ten times more dangerous than Thailand! no no no!

If you're sticking in Thailand, only Pattaya fits your spec. It is a sex-city and it's in your face. Any deviation could be found. I would rate Manila as second best, as people speak English, but it is more dangerous for Westeners who don't know the ropes. S America, been there, done that, but they're not really into deviant lifestyles, although the girls are stunning and available.

Whatever, enjoy your remaining years on this planet, better to go out with a bang than slowly slide into boredom...

I'm sliding fast.

May go back to the US and move to Colorado and smoke pot all day.

What area are you living in that is both boring and sleazy.

I living in Phrakanong which is boring but not sleazy.

My post is actually referring to Bangkok in general which I find boring now that it has morphed into a 5 star tourist zone and, somehow, removed all the sleaze that exhisted during the last haf of the 20th century.

Intensive investigation reveals: ....Ethiopia is both cheap and sleazy....the near perfect combination.

Get there before the mass of other people discover all the fun to be had and ruin it for all the fun seeking budget travelers.

Cheers

sshhhh don't tell everyone.

I suggest Worthing on the South coast of England. It can get pretty raucous when the bingo halls turn out mid evening. Lots of fellow retirement buddies and lovely sea views where you can contemplate for the rest of your life the sad mistake you made leaving Bangkok.

You SOUND like the type of FARANG Thailand is trying their utmost to get rid off. If Bangkok and Pattaya cannot meet YOUR Expectations, try Sihanoukville Cambodia. If that does not comply, I think it is time for you to hit the road back to where you came from and were born. Buy a Funeral Plot there in the meantime and plan for your demise. Safe other Countries and friends the problem!
