British passport holder working in Turkey - What is the longest thai visa i can apply for?

Featured Replies

Hi

Iam a British National currently living and working in Istanbul Turkey (For Information the Thai embassy is in Ankara a good 4 hr drive from Istanbul)

Iam also the owner of a condo in Thailand if that makes any difference or not iam unsure but what are my visa options? its becoming tiresome with only 30 day tourist visas and iam not old enough to apply for retirement visa. The METV seems ok for 6 months but means i would have to have 3 days to travel to Ankara anmd back just to obtain it as it needs one day to obtain and has to be done in person.

Thailand elite visa for 5 or 20 years. 500k and 2 million baht respectively. It allows multiple entries.

Their is a honorary consulate in Istanbul where you should be able to apply for a visa. Not sure you will be able to get the METV or just a single entry tourist visa.

Tourist visa requirements are here on the Embassy website: http://thaiembassyturkey.com/en/consular-service/consular-service-4/tourist-visa-general-nationalities

If your condo is worth over 10 million you might be able to get a 1 year extensions of stay, renewable every year, which with a multiple re-entry permit allows you to come and go as often as you want.

Thank you, what does a single entry give me that i do not get with a visa on arrival?

You get a 30 day visa exempt entry not a visa on arrival. Are you aware that you can extend that 30 days for an additional 30 days at an immigration office.

A single entry visa allows one 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

As a British passport holder you do not qualify for a VOA. If you arrive without a visa a "visa exempt entry" will be given

A single entry tourist visa gives an initial 60 day stay which may be extended for a further 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 Bht
