I decided this is a worth a thread of its own.


The text below explains the situation.


Please respond here instead of on the VOTING POLL thread.


If there isn't much response, I won't do this at all.


So consider this a TRIAL BALLOON.

'10 Questions for the Top 5'




In ANTICIPATION of the upcoming GRAND FINALE with the TOP 5 Poster of the Year hopefuls, I am developing a list of 10 questions ('Ten Questions for the Top 5') that all of the TOP 5 will be strongly encouraged to respond to.



I would like to open this up to sincere SUGGESTIONS. They can of course be funny questions, but nothing about politics, religion, or the member's sexual practices is going to be on the list, so PLEASE don't even bother suggesting them.



Thinking more on the lines of related to their experiences on the forum, to Thailand, to the expat experience. That kind of thing, more or less. Silly is fine, but not all of them will be silly.



I will gather all of the suggestions, if any, and then decide on the final list: ''Ten Questions for the Top 5'



Some ideas I have to get this started as a way to provide examples of the sort of questions I think would be both fun and informative:



-- What are your five favorite Thai dishes, if you eat Thai food, and if you don't eat Thai food, why not?



-- Can you please provide links to a few threads that you started that you feel best represent the style of your participation at Thaivisa.com forum?



-- What other Thaivisa member (not a mod) do you most admire on the forum, and why?



-- Do the sum of your posts at Thaivisa pass the smell test?



-- In your opinion, why does Thailand have so many ladyboys?



-- Thai immigration -- what are your favorite things about Thai immigration and what would you suggest to make it better?



-- If you had to live in another country than Thailand, but not your home country, which country would that be? (Regardless of visa and financial limitations.)



That's a start.



Please make many suggestions and then a robust question list represent the diversity here will happen.


The above are not final questions, only a way to get this started.


Do better and get your questions will be on the list!


Exciting? Don't answer that.

......is this really one of the highlights of your life...........................sad.png

Compared to other life earth moving experiences you have had---how does this one rate

1/Right up there with the birth of my first child.

2/I don't think I have been so moved, as when I was told I had a chance to be poser poster of the year.

3/ To join the other legend names on here like Jing-Thing...& ...Err....Umm...well-what more can any mortal ask.

4/ I put all my success so far down to my much viewed post on the curing of bunions & other foot ailments.

I would like to ask why they spend so much time posting, have they nothing better to do?

I could phrase that politely to address that query but keep in mind not all POTY hopefuls do post all that abundantly.

So far this hasn't been an adequately positive response but there is still time.

Has living in Thailand given you a better handle on the world and filled in a missing piece of life's puzzle??

I could work with something like that.

I'm still not there as far as being convinced there is really support for development of the 10 questions.

Before, some people asked for a live Question and Answer session.

That obviously is not a realistic option.

So this idea was another approach that could definitely be attempted.

Hoping to get many more question suggestions or the idea fizzles.

Those currently in the running in the POTY contest are welcome to make question suggestions as well.

This dealio isn't about being super anal with inflexible rules.

Also I will likely edit any questions anyway.

Also any good questions you present will be asked of all the finalists.

Also you're being awful cocky about your chances to get into the finals. Yeah. You will.

Starting to get at least some SILLY stuff I can work with.

Keep this going and there might just be an "official" list coming.

No guarantees yet.

While I'll need to "massage" the suggestions to some extent, I won't release a list if it's mostly about MY questions. Gonna need MORE PARTICIPATION in suggestions.

If you disagree strongly enough with a moderator's decision to remove a post (whether informative or opinionated), would you be prepared to challenge that moderator and criticise him/her in language sufficiently strong enough to warrant your being banned, or demand that he/she step down?

I asked for questions that fit a certain tone / format. Yours is way off and you bloody well know it. Ba-bye.

Again, if members aren't into this idea enough to suggest enough questions that can reasonably be asked ... then that's fine. I'll just shelve it. But this thread isn't an invitation for trollish discussions about moderation. PM a mod or something. Not here.

Funny, you're telling me to grow up.

You know perfectly well nobody would be able to post question suggestions like yours, even if they wanted to.

If this kind of garbage troll posting continues, I'm getting close to asking this thread to be closed and declaring the 10 questions for the 5 Finalists idea an EPIC FAIL.

I would be disappointed but not very surprised.
