When is Immigration planning to move all services to the Promenade?

and big renovation job going on.

I told you. Why would they be doing that if they were going to move all services to Promenada?
My bet is they will never move. I think it was an exploratory idea, and one that the Promenada boss thought would be useful for the Ghost Mall.
But if you look at the immigration setup in Promenada, it does have a sense of "temporariness" to it.

Yes exactly....temporary in Promenada, and even though the size will be almost double than before, is going to be still too small for Chiang mai.

CM is big enough, in volume of users to have a minimum of 2 offices, handling ALL requirements. City Hall, north of town where most Government Agencies are made sense to me. Has many rai of land and substantial parking.

The old immigration office is ok to go to by public transport but unless you have a motor cycle, almost impossible to park close by with a car even the airport parking lot has outgrown its availabilty.

Walking around Promenada is quite depressing maybe it can hang on but the number of shop that have already closed and the number of entrances that are chained and padlocked has all the halmarks of a failed project and a possible close down or re inventing as a Chinese Disneyland .

However the core problem comes back to lack of Immigration staff no matter where they are located. To be an Immigration officer is not rocket science its a simple clerical function, lets not make it any bigger than what it really is. As I have said before the average bank teller's job is far more complicated and I dont see 5am queues lining up outside banks.

I would like to see some quality beer drinking going on at the tables from 11-2, anyway. It's a stone's throw to Rimping. I bought a Heineken, and asked where I could consume it...she basically pointed at my receipt and shrugged her shoulders...I parked myself with my 490 ml Heineken right on the front benches..I didn't know there was some kind of elementary school dismissing onto songtaews at about 13:00, but two cops cruised up on a motorcycle and looked right at me, as I tilted...no problem. I certainly, wouldn't walk into a government office with one, likely laws on the books about that, but after being up for 28 hours, the beer was energizing. I also met a handful of nice interesting farang, who like me, were trying to make the most of our time killing. Just like a 13 hour plane ride; I would rather look at someone's vacation photos than sit in silence.

What an interesting thought. Drinking beer at the tables right outside the G4T office from 11 am - 2 pm. Hmm --- I think I'll try that next time I'm at Imm. Prom -- on "official business" of course. I'll be sure my retirement extension queue card is in plain view.

by that time, you would have already had your interview, and 2-3 hours to kill while waiting...or pay for a round-trip home....I'll do a couple with you Nancy, perhaps even a little beer pong.

Every time I have been there I have always found some one interesting to talk to. I also carry a book with me in case. Don't know how some of those people can just sit there and do nothing.

Don't understand how any one can cram quality beer drinking in to a time schedule. sounds more like desperation drinking to me. LOL

It's not desperation until it's 1:58, and you're the third person in line at checkout. BTW, I would have brown-bagged my beer, but Rimping donates 50 satang to an orphanage for every customer, who doesn't get a bag.

It's been corroborated that the airport immigration location is undergoing refurbishment/expansion, so that pretty well nullifies the theory that CM immigration is "on its own" and has no money to work with from the top dogs in Bangkok.

They clearly have money to do the construction.

Maybe Bangkok are sick of all the complaining

So will be Interesting to see what and where things will change

Pity they could not let everyone know

They only have themselves to blame for all the problems AT All Chiang Mai Immigration Offices
