BANGKOK -- The courtyard in front of the City Hall will be transformed into a wall and a tunnel of colourful lighting as part of its New Year’s celebration.

Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra said Tuesday that 39 million baht had been allocated to decorate eight lighting panels and two tunnels with five million LED light bulbs.

The City Hall’s building will also be decorated with some 500,000 light bulbs.

He assured that the structures are safe and Bangkokians can enjoy the spectacular lighting during the New Year’s festival.
