uploading LibreOffice files to a post on TVF

Featured Replies

Today I tried to upload some files to a post using LibreOffice 5 Writer and Calc files.

LibreOffice 5 is free software which is compatible with MS Office and I can read, write and save between the 2 systems.

However I cannot upload any of the files to any post on TVF.

Can anybody explain why?

will do it. There are other services available. Can you not make your files available in pdf? Big button on Libre Office referring to pdf.

I believe PDF is a safer format than DOC or XLS. I suggest you use PDF.

I thank both of you very much.

I saved it originally as a .odt file and then saved it again as a .docx file.

Listening to both of you I went back to .odt and then saved it as a pdf file.

As cooked said there is a button to save it as .pdf but I never thought about that.

Good choice. The reason they call it PDF is because P stands for Portable, ie it can be used on any platform, on any computer. If someone doesn't have Acrobat Reader installed, it is a quick, free download.

Personally I would use another PDF reader then Adobe as it is IMO a bit bloated. SumatraPDF is a good and light weight alternative.

Foxit (https://www.foxitsoftware.com/products/pdf-reader/ )is ok. I had Adobe on my computer when I bought it so I use it. However it has an awful lot of features that most people never use and can overload a smaller laptop.

Removed an incomprehensible post.
