Hi again. I need some advice.

I have a rather pressing question(s) regarding going up to Laos tonight (Monday 28th Dec.).

I have the paperwork (from a University) to get a Non Immigrant B visa from Vientiane. If I go up today and arrive early tomorrow morning (Tuesday 29th Dec.), submit my application, and pick up my visa on Wednesday afternoon, everything should be OK. (The Embassy/Consulate is closed on Thursday and Friday as you may know).

Assuming the paperwork is all in order, Is this trip do-able? (It may be complete bedlam at the Consulate this week - or it might be really quiet..anyone any experience of this particular period?)

My concern is that If I don't get the Non-B will I have enough time to get another Non-O, or will I only have time to get a standard voa/tourist visa..which would put me in a difficult situation as I am supposed to start work on Monday 4th Jan, so a Non O or Non B would be important. (would I have enough time, if a problem with the Non-B (something not signed, somebody on holiday, too many people!) to get a Non-O, or would I have to submit a new application and wait 4 days til after New Year to pick it up?

I appreciate any help you can offer.

If someone is thinking 'why don;t you just get a non-O visa from immigration?'. This has been difficult to explain to the university (as I would prefer it), as they seem only familiar with the Non-B/work permit format.

ps. At the moment I am on a Non-O 90 day (marriage) visa.

Thanks

You can do it if you apply tomorrow morning.

If there was problem with getting the non-b you would have no problem getting the non-o. The processing time for the non-o and a tourist visa are the same.

It will be busy tomorrow but not as bad as today since it is a day when visa run vans show up. Tomorrow it will mostly only be people going on their own.
