Tipmanee set-top box - favourite channels

I just bought a couple of TMN set-top boxes for TVs in my house.

Working well but I have one niggle that someone may be able to help with. I want to set up some favourite channels but have no idea how to do it. The remote control has a button marked 'FAV' with a heart symbol and if I press this a screen pops up telling me that I have no favourites set. That's logical but what it doesn't tell me is how to go about adding some channels to the empty list. I seem to be able to scroll left and right and some general categories - Sport, Music, etc. appear but there is no hint as how to proceed from there. Must be easy, surely, but I can't find anything relevant in the on-screen menu.

No English instructions came with the boxes and I can't find an English manual to download so I'm stuck. Anyone been there and done that and solved the problem?

Having the same problem

The set top box definitely gives a better picture when it's on but setting favourites seems to be a no no, at least for this old timer

The problem is that if you set the box to the English language then it precludes herself from being able to use it easily without having to scan the whole menu list of channels.

The picture quality is certainly much improved so for 500 Baht I'm not complaining.

As far as the favourites are concerned, the best that I can come up with at the moment is just to write down the relevant channel numbers, which you can get from the EPG list, and then input the desired channel manually. Not ideal - just a low tech solution. I'm sure that there must be a better way though.

Solved it!

1. Press MENU

2. Select the first item (the left-most item)

3. Scroll down to PROGRAM EDIT

4. Input the password (default is 0000 on my box)

5. You then have the option of scrolling through the program list and can press FAV for any channel that you want to add. You can assign a category - News, Music etc. - to any favourite.

6. When finished, press EXIT until you get back to the normal display.

7. Pressing the FAV button then brings up the Favourites list. You can select by category or just display ALL.

Easy when you know how!

My only remaining niggle is that the OSD menu is not very readable but that may be down to the resolution of my CRT TV not being up to the job. I'm waiting for it to expire so that I have an excuse to buy a new one - the only problem being that these old CRT models seem to live for ever!

Thanks for the info but doesn't seem to work on my box which is an "AJ"

I can also try to get a chanel by inputting the number as you do and this number is from the channel list and it tells me that there isn't such a channel with that number so Im flummoxed with this box

If anybody ever finds that there is some way to see an actual schedule for programming in TMN Digital, please post it here. As I noted earlier, this is, IMO, a major fault with this system, as it is with all of the Thai cable channels, as far as I know. Sure would be nice if they could provide a guide, as is done with True Visions. ... Yeah, I know, True Visions costs a hell of a lot more. Just sayin'.

Can you delete channels that you don't want?

Yes, you can do this on my box, which is a Createch CT-1, provided by TMN for 500 Baht

My box is a Createch so your AJ may well be different. There ought to be a way though as it's a pretty basic requirement.

I've been quite impressed with my little box. I especially like that it has a USB port and will play movies from a flash drive. Does AVI and MP4 with no problems but loses the audio on MKV.

The system has not been too good today though - Thai channels are fine but the signal strength on the foreign channels has been very weak, giving pixelation and complete break-up at times. I'm hoping that this is a temporary issue as everything was fine yesterday.
