BANGKOK: -- A huge fire broke out this morning at TNM International factory inside the Khok Krabue industrial estate in Samut Sakhon province, causing damages estimated initially at 10 million baht.

The factory manufactures machinery and raw materials used for pharmaceutical purposes, including aluminium foil for pharmaceutical packaging.

Police said the fire happened at 7.30 am and quickly raged along the line of machineries inside the building.

Twenty fire engines from several local administration offices in Samut Sakhon were rushed to the factory, and were able to stop the fire from raging to nearby buildings after almost two hours of fire fighting.

The factory’s deputy manager Noppawit Jongpermwatanapol told police investigator that workers detected smoke coming out of a printing room and they helped to use extinguishers to put it out.

However the fire raged quickly, forcing them to give up and ran out to alert firemen.

Forensic police were at the scene to find evidence and cause of fire.
