THAILAND -- The Provincial Police Region 4 Monday put up a Bt400,000 cash prize for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the man who killed an 18-year-old schoolgirl in a rape attempt in Kalasin’s Rong Kham district on December 23.

Police suspect that the culprit might be someone living in the same village or nearby, and have interrogated and taken DNA samples from about five suspects. Results of the tests are still pending.

It is believed that the attacker - possibly someone the victim knew or someone who wanted to harm her - might have followed the young girl home from school, where a sports event was being held, Kalasin deputy police chief Colonel Wichien Pinduang said.
