LONDON: -- Details are now coming in of the latest deadly Boko Haram attacks in northern Nigeria which have left at least 80 people dead in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

At least two suicide bombs went off in busy parts of the town, and another exploded in Madagali, reportedly detonated by a pair of female suicide bombers.

The Christmas period has seen several Boko Haram attacks and army offensives. The Muslim extremists have reverted to hitting easy targets after suffering a number of military reverses.

The most populated country in Africa with almost daily massacres and no international assistance to think of, yet everyone is scrambling to the fight in Syria.

No oil interests = no token humanitarian effort.

Money talks BS walks.

Syria is hardly a major oil producer. It ranks 39th in world. Nigeria, however, is the largest oil producer in Africa and ranks 12th in the world. The main international players are Shell, Mobil, Chevron and Texaco and their destruction of the local environment has been widely documented. Oil and gas exports account for over 80% of government earnings. Nigeria ranks 136 out of 176 on international corruption indices. The gross human rights violations and incompetence of the Nigerian Army have been the main obstacles to it getting more extensive aid from the U.S. and Britain. Five days ago the Nigerian President claimed that Boko Haram was technically defeated (BBC News). And so it goes.

Every time I read Boko Haram, I keep singing A Whiter Shade of Pale

I hope the day comes when I never read their scummy name again!

Don't be to hard on these misguided thugs...they are trying to gain attention to make up for their inability to function as a normal male because of their little pee pee...killing people give them a rush...a substitute for the lack of women's attention...

BOKO HARAM means translated °western education is forbidden°. It is time that these a......... start using camels and use slingshots for their fighting. also use smoke signals instead of mobile phones. I spent 32 years in Nigeria, 6 years in the north- In Madagaly I was in charge of an engineering school to train young secondary school leavers. All of them condemn actions of the so called fighters.

Boko Haram is just a bunch of illiterate people , having sand in their brains. I hope the present government finishes them off for good-
