ThaiPauly
For about 2 months now I have been randomly having pain when I pee, sometimes it's fine, other times I am doubled up with pain for 10 minutes before it subsides. I am also peeing more frequently than before. I know I should probably see a urologist, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this problem. I am A 61 year old man, smoker, drinker, and like good food but not not overweight. Anybody any idea what this could be? Thanks in advance TP
sunnyjim5
Likely to be a prostate problem. You need to consult a doctor.

ThaiPauly
I recently had a full medical and my prostrate was fine, and there is zero chance of me having VD. Kidney stone is a possibility I have thought of, thanks for that

Kidney stone is a possibility I have thought of, thanks for that Kidney stones cause pain in the flank which sometimes radiates into the groin. The pain is not usually provoked by urination. However, for you problem to be definitively diagnosed a doctor needs to be consulted.
lopburi3
Have you noticed any grit or sand type particles in your urine? No blood? Passing stone will often cause bleeding as easy to scratch walls. Are you sure prostate is fine (this is size not PSA number)?

TigerGuardian
I would concur with the other observations made regarding possible prostate enlargement (or) passing of a stone/grit. That being said, have you started taking any new medication or herbal remedies prior to your chief complaint? Some medication and otc herbal products can produce adverse reactions such as you described. Good luck and I hope you can find the cause(s) and continue to enjoy life! lonewolf99
Whlst back in the UK a few months ago, I heard a debate on the radio about social media. One learned gent rightly stated that "people put things on Facebook etc they would not even tell their GP". I think the OP needs to, as already stated, see a GP pronto... JHolmesJr
Intriguing...if the urine dribbles out weakly when you pee, then id be looking at some sort of std or prostate related ailment.... All i can assure you is you will need to abstain from some foods and drinks, whether its prostate or kidney stone related.
xylophone
I recently had a full medical and my prostrate was fine, and there is zero chance of me having VD. Kidney stone is a possibility I have thought of, thanks for that It could still be a urinary tract infection which can sometimes be caused by poor emptying of the bladder. Prostatitis can give symptoms similar to that, however it is not usually "painful" per se, more uncomfortable and with prostatitis, the symptoms can come and go and are very often accompanied by other symptoms such as an aching around the testes to the anus and lower back – – I know I struggled with this for 25 years and just about everything was tried and nothing really worked, mainly because generally there are two types of prostatitis, bacterial and nonbacterial, and it is usual that bacterial prostatitis can be cured with antibiotics even though this can take a long time for the antibiotics to penetrate the membranes within the prostate. As for the nonbacterial type, well inflammation is probably the cause, however nobody really knows. My symptoms, similar to yours sometimes, were eventually cured by a TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate) however if your doctor has said that your prostate is fine then I suggest a visit to a urologist so that they can conduct an ultrasound on the bladder and also insert a camera into the urethra to have a look around (actually not painful at all, believe it or not). Good luck and as others have said, you probably need to get to a urologist ASAP. PS. For the record, my prostate was normal size and the PSA level around 2, however it was the inside of the prostate which was causing the problem. JMWPACIFIC
I've had kidney stones many times but not with the symptoms you describe and also have an enlarged prostate for I have some pills. Get to your urologist soon. I'd recommend mine who is Dr. Jimmy Kongcharoen at BPH if you're in Pattaya.

If the prostate is involved, you will have other symptoms as it is the factory that manufactures your mojo…listlessness, discomfort in the region, tender feeling in the area of the prostate, itching in the penile shaft, incomplete urination with a slight burn... The two types of prostatitis are Acute and Chronic. Acute can be treated fairly straightforward….Chronic lingers and lingers and lingers…and…..lingers. The antibiotic course for Chronic is 2 weeks of Oflox (2X400mg tabs), followed by 2 weeks of Bactrim (2Xday)….this cycle to be taken once and repeated three times…yes, THREE times….takes about 2 months... Certain foods will irritate the prostate and impede treatment, if you persist in taking them…..coffee, alcohol (a no-no, not even a sip), cigarettes, spicy food etc. A good book by an M.D. on this subject is Private Parts by Yosh Taguchi. Take this seriously.
Nomad97
About a year ago I found I could not pass urine in the morning. I had had earlier warning signs during the previous 6 months, including blood in urine. Six hours later I was admitted to A&E for emergency treatment. Subsequently, the urologist conducted blood tests, x-rays and ultra sound before scheduling an operation for a few days later. During the cystoscopy it was soon evident that I had cancer of the bladder and a large tumour was removed during a 2 hour operation.I have had the gold star BCG treatment, a 6 week course, and regular follow-up cystoscopies every 3 months. I am very pleased to say I was diagnosed in time, operated on and responded to the treatment. I am now clear, no evidence of disease. Smokers are 4 times more likely to get bladder cancer than non-smokers. I am 5 to 6 years older than you. I am not saying you have the same as me but I do strongly recommend that you see an Urologist immediately. Take this seriously. Agree with most of what you say, however the problem with prostatitis, even if it is chronic, is that it needn't be caused by a bacteria so no amount of antibiotics will cure it. I was on just about every regime of antibiotics on and off for 25 years and still no cure, even with a six-month course of ciprofloxacin (yes six months) AND I saw the top three specialists in two different countries. As others have also suggested it could be non-specific urethritis (NSU) and again that can occur without any sexual activity involved. Hopefully by now the OP has seen a urologist and had some tests done, so perhaps he would be kind enough to report back and let us know the findings, always good to know those things which ail us and how they can be cured and/or prevented. ThaiPauly
I saw the specialist today. He said I had a large prostrate. He could not fathom why the pain was infrequent though. Had a PSA blood and urine sample taken. Medication supplied, I have to go back and see him in 2 weeks. Will give an update in 2 weeks
JHolmesJr
Sounds like benign prostatic hyperplasia from wht u mention. .... Hopefully you can get it under control I think the pill for it is called finasteride Prostate takes damn long to respond to treatment....did he ask you to stay off coffee, alcohol and cigarettes.....that stuff can really mess with an inflamed prostate. JHolmesJr
No he never asked me to make any lifestyle changes at all It scares me how much faith we are conditioned to place in doctors….they are just human and often times pretty clueless... Try and get your hands on a book written by a good doctor….Private Parts by Dr. Yosh Taguchi M.D. He explains all the precautions that need to be taken. Eating foods rid in zinc seems to help too. xylophone
I saw the specialist today. He said I had a large prostrate. He could not fathom why the pain was infrequent though. Had a PSA blood and urine sample taken. Medication supplied, I have to go back and see him in 2 weeks. Will give an update in 2 weeks I take it he did a DRE (finger up the bum......sorry mods) test to establish that you had a "large prostate"? Also sometimes ultrasound is used. So in 2 weeks (long time to wait for these results) you will get the results from a urine sample which should ascertain if you have an infection or not and your PSA score, which along with the DRE findings will/can point to a poss outcome. When those are in the next steps should be discussed with the specialist...........as another poster has said if it is BPH then there are drugs which can be tried. Other steps can be a "scope" in the urethra to have a look around. Try all avenues before getting on to the surgery route. Good luck.
