THAILAND -- Udon Thani’s Ban Phue district police chief was immediately transferred to an inactive post at the provincial police office after the raid of three karaoke bars on Tuesday where 16 Laotian women, some of them underaged, were found to be working in the premises.

Pol Maj-Gen Phirapong Wongsamarn, the provincial police commander, ordered the removal of Pol Col Pornchai Boonrod from Ban Phue police station. He was replaced by Pol Col Promnatthakhet Hamkampai.

A special task force of the Local Administration Department raided the three karaoke bars in the district under the jurisdiction of Ban Phuepolice which were suspected of being involved in prostitution.

Sixteen Laotian women were found in the three bars and some of them were believed to be underaged although their ID cards show they are over18.

Five people, including a Laotian, were arrested by the raiding tem. They were later charged with human trafficking.

Authorities said some of the women thought to be underaged would be sent for medical tests to determine their actual ages.

The new meaning of "AXED" in the Thai Police dictionary is 'To be removed from the position one has been rewarded with to an equal position without extra income benefits till the fuss dies down.' rolleyes.gif

Don't recall EVER seeing a headline like this under the last lot.

Three minutes with google. All reported in TVF. Your memory is selective.

Feb 2013 - the Pheu Thai Party has requested that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) look into whether there was collusion in the contracts to build 163 police housing units worth Bt3 billion and 369 new police stations worth Bt5.848 billion.

Feb 2013 - Members of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) arrived on Phuket as part of the launch of a nationwide program designed to oust crooked police officers and slowly change police culture in Thailand. Each of the 1,460 police stations across Thailand will have 10 of its officers selected this year to help gather information about the behavior of police officers and the station’s actions as a whole.

May 2013 - The superiors of a police officer who took bribes from drivers on the road underneath Bearing skytrain station in Bangkok have been transferred away from Bang Na station.

Aug 2013 - A manhunt for two police lieutenants has been launched as more evidence of their alleged extortion attempt has emerged. Arrest warrants have been issued for Wirat Inyord and Akkaranet Mutawan stemming from their reported attempt to extort money from two foreigners.

Here is my definition of "being axed": To be dismissed dishonorably from the force with stripping of one's rank and all and every decorations rewarded, without the right to severance pay, and with complete loss of income and loss of all and any benefits including retirement benefits, healthcare benefits, and state-subsidized housing, as well as the revocation of one's weapon license,

Only tough measures can clean up this bunch of stone-lazy, corrupt-to-the-bone oxygen thieves.

And he bats it out of the park!

I very much doubt John will show his face in this thread again.

Seriously give us a break from your nonsense !!

It is getting just a little boooooring................coffee1.gif

Coming from the author of some of the most ridiculous and unintelligent drivel I have ever seen on any forum !!. I normally just skip over your posts because I know for certain there is nothing worth reading.

I note you didn't give any example to back up your argument. LOL. Tells me everything I need to know.

Have a day off why don't you.

This place (TV) has made me so cynical that my immediate reaction was "I wonder what the district police chief did to attract this attention -- after all, someone at provincial HQ didn't just wake up one morning and think, 'hmmmm, let's see if he's doing his job'."

Now, can someone tell me what test will distinguish a 17 year old from an 19 year old (for example) ... at least something that has better than a 5-year span of 'error'?

"Five people, including a Laotian, were arrested by the raiding team. They were later charged with human trafficking."

I take it that 4 of the 5 are Thai's

A very casual mention of people being charged with slavery, one would expect some elaboration on this issue as it is a vile trade and also something Thailand is trying to show the world they are proactive in enforcement of the laws and prepared to initiate thorough investigations.

Unless of course they just don't give a damn.

I crossed the border into Laos at Vientiane a couple of

years ago. Too lazy and cheap to charter a taxi into town, I waved at a van

with an older Thai woman in it. She was happy to give me a ride. When I asked

her what she was doing in Laos, she said she was shopping for Laos girls to

come back and work in her karaoke bar on the outskirts of Bangkok . Somewhat

stunned, I asked her why she did not hire Thai girls. She said they were too

dark skinned, and that Thai men preferred light skinned young Laos girls.

So I suspect there are lots and lots of karaoke bar chock full of Laos girls....

I hope that he collected his bribe money before going to an "inactive Post" I understand now that the military has taken over the BIB are asking for 3 to 6 months advance on their bribes instead of 1 month, in case something like this happens.
