School for the blind reportedly among sites hit in new airstrikes in Yemen
By Seamus Kearney

"They target our homes, our children, our cars, our cattle, with powerful explosions"

PARIS: -- After a lull of several weeks Saudi-led airstrikes have resumed in Yemen, amid fresh concern about the impact on civilians.

The strikes are targeting Houthi forces allied with Iran and recent hits included military positions near the capital.

But civilian infrastructure, including a school for the blind, have reportedly been hit.

One resident told reporters: “They target our homes, our children, our cars, our cattle, with powerful explosions.”

It is reported the strikes also hit the headquarters of Yemen’s Chamber of Commerce.

There are no reports of casualties.

Residents have taken to the streets to protest against the strike on the school for the blind, with students among those demonstrating.

An estimated 6,000 people have been killed since the Saudi-led airstrikes began last March, almost half of them civilians.
