How can I find a Thai guarantor?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My wife and I have met all the 1 year O-A visa requirements required by Thailand embassy in Singapore.

We have submitted all the documents and funding requirements to Thai embassy in Singapore. We can't fill in "the Name, telephone number and address of Guarantor in Thailand" in their Application form and "the name and telephone number of reference person in Thailand" in their Additional Application Form for Non-Immigrant Visa "O-A" (please see the files in the following link: http://www.thaiembassy.sg/visa-matters-/-consular/visa-requirements/non-immigrant-visa-o-a-long-stay or attachmentsVisaApplicationForm1.PDFAdditionalApplicationForm.PDF) because we do not know a person who live in Thailand. How can I find a Thai guarantor?

This Thai's guarantor do not require to sign any documents, hence, what is this guarantor roles and responsibility?

Please advise.

Thank you

You don't need the guarantor. You can just put self in the space for it.

Hi Ubonjoe,

Thai application form stated clearly that "Name and address of guarantor in Thailand". I am in Singapore. How can I put self? It doesn't make sense at all.

You are being too literal.

You can write "self" which will be accepted.

The visa application form is generic. The guarantor is only needed for those from certain counties.

The other form states reference not guarantor. That could be anybody that you know here.

Hi Ubonjoe,

May I ask where can I find which Thai embassy or immigration documents stated that The guarantor is only needed for those from certain counties. If so, which countries?

You said "That could be anybody that you know here." Does it make sense because it is likely possible that you don't know anybody there, like our case. If so, we (who spending there can support Thai's economy) can't retire for 1 year there?

Hope you or some one can advise. Thank you.

You are trying to find logic in Thai visa regulations. In some cases, logic does indeed apply, but much is not logical but has just evolved. My advice is to trust Ubonjoe's judgment, and not worry about whether it makes sense.

You guarantee you will not become a burden on society by demonstrating the amount of funds the Thai Government requires you to have.

Ergo, you are your own guarantor.

If a guarantor is required they list it in the required documents. An example is this one for Chinese to get a tourist visa in Beijing. http://www.thaiembbeij.org/thaiembbeij/pdf/visa_requirement_eng.pdf

"3. Guarantee letter (In English or Thai) from the applicant's local guarantor, indicating the applicant's name and purpose of the applicant's travel to Thailand. The letter must include official letterhead of the company/school and affix with official seal."

Hi BritTim,

You might misunderstood the issue. Of course, I not only trust Ubonjoe's judgement but also greatly appreciate it. Ubonjoe is helping my wife and me. The issue is Thai embassy in Singapore insisted that my wife and I must fill in guarantor and reference person's particular, and address of rental condo/apartment because the woman said it is 1 year visa to grant.

Anyway, thank you for your comment.

Hi Ubonjoe,

The woman at the Visa section of Thai embassy in Singapore has insisted that my wife and I must fill in guarantor and reference person's particular, and address of rental condo/apartment or they will not accept our application form and additional application form together with other required documents like bank letter, medical certificate, etc. She even did not accept my explanation.

She is very unfair to us because we have spent our precious time (time is precious for every one) and resources to get all their listed required documents (http://www.thaiembassy.sg/visa-matters-/-consular/visa-requirements/non-immigrant-visa-o-a-long-stay).

Can you or some one advise what should we do?

Thank you for your kind help and advise.

I can see the reason for them wanting the reference on the 2nd form. But insisting on the guarantor on the visa application is bit much since it something entirely different.

As I wrote before perhaps find somebody whose name and contact info you can use. I assume the same person can be used for both forms. Perhaps a friend or family member of a friend in Singapore that is living here.

Hi Ubonjoe,

I have tried and can't find any one. The word "guarantor" easily scare people. Any other solution, please.

I have just read through this topic.

I (unless I missed it ) see no reference to the OP meeting this requirement

"Please note that Non-Immigrant Visa-O-A (Long Stay/Retirement) will only be granted by the Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore, to Singaporean citizens and Singapore’s Permanent Residents. "

If that requirement is not met perhaps that is why the OP is experiencing difficulty?

Hi Sunnyjim5,

My wife and I are a Singapore permanent residents.

What do you mean by "I (unless I missed it ) see no reference to the OP meeting this requirement" and what OP stand for?

I put n/a in that spot

I put n/a in that spot

Was that when you applied for a non-immigrant O/A visa in Singapore?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Hello. I am Australian applying for a non-imm B business Visa in Thailand. I am using the online form.

Can anyone explain to me the role of the guarantor? I have someone in Singapore, but they don't want to commit until they understand the implications.

Thanks so much

I assume you mean you are apply for visa for Thailand at a embassy or consulate not here at immigration since there is not a guarantor space on a TM68 or TM87 form used to apply for a visa.

On a visa application a at an embassy or consulate you can put yourself as the guarantor. Or you could put your employer's name and address on the form in your case.
