Back to back visa exemption stamps

Featured Replies

Hi

What is the current ruling? Some say 90 days out of 180 only and others say it has been rescinded. I want to know for sure.

I came in on a 30-day visa waiver at the airport in October and have since done two border runs to Poipet giving me another 2 x 30 stamps. That's three stamps in a row.

Can I do another border run or must I get a tourist visa?

Cheers.

Why didn't you apply for a 30 day extension of those entries. If you are getting the 30 day entries because you are from a G7 country you qualify for the extension.

There is no written limit on visa exempt entries. You might have a problem doing another out/in visa exempt entry at Poi Pet since they are one of the crossings limiting them to 90 days in a calendar year.

If you are planning stay longer than than another 30 days you should go out for a tourist visa.

I think the extensions are at the discretion of Immigration officials and you need a reason.

I'm not sure how long I'm staying.

I was thinking of Poi Pet, yes. Otherwise I'll have to haul ass to Laos.

The only reason needed to secure an extension of a visa exempt entry is "to pursue tourist activities"

You will likely be refused another visa exempt entry at Poi Pet .

Why do you think the 30 day extension are at the discretion of immigration? They do them all the time

Why do you think the day extension are at the discretion of immigration? They do them all the time

I think I am confusing a 'visa extension' with a 'visa exemption extension'. I have only now just heard of this 30-day visa exemption extension ...

So I can just go get one in Bangkok?

Yes you can apply for the 30 day extension of your visa exempt entry at Chaeng Wattana immigration in Bangkok.

They have been allowed since August of 2014.

Good man.

Good to know.

Another victim of the confused use of terms in the expat community!
