NRSA to host seminar to explain Thailand’s need for national strategies

BANGKOK, 11 January 2016 (NNT) - A National Reform Steering Assembly committee is set to organize a seminar to explain the need for national strategies and to hear more people’s opinions.

A committee under the NRSA which is in charge of government and public administration will host a seminar entitled “Sustainable National Stability and Prosperity through National Strategies” at Government House on January 16, said committee chairman Yongyuth Sarasombat.

Mr. Yongyuth said that the upcoming discussion is aimed at helping more people understand the need for the country to prioritize its strategies which will help with the development of the country in all respects.

He stated that the national strategies which Thailand will adopt won't be changed when a new government takes office because a national development process must be a continuous one.

Mr. Yongyuth added that the seminar will be a venue for all participants to exchange opinions related to the formulation of long-term strategies to direct Thailand's future progress.

So in a normal country that would mean effective immediately once the strategies agreed on,not waiting at all.....

In Thailand it usually means, pass the buck, bucko and never do anything meaningful even if agreed on.

This doesn't need to be explained. It is self-evident; every country needs future strategies or plans just as businesses do.

What needs to be explained is why Thailand has almost no good strategies in place.

Nothing significant has been done for future flooding or droughts.

Nothing seems to be being resolved in the South.

No good explanations as to why the military needs all their new toys.

No real headway is being made on a draft charter that most Thai people can get behind.

No reconciliation which was promised at the beginning of the coup.

No justice or improvements in the police force given the Koh Tao murder trail results and the gang of five police who disappeared the human rights activist.

No reduction in traffic accidents or fatalities with any new strategies...just business as usual.

First you need stable government with reliable succession. Otherwise, who believes in long term plans?

It is likely the junta's intention to memorialize those junta-approved national strategies in the constitution, laws, and multitude of Independent and Oversight Organizations. Any efforts by an elected government to legally alter those strategies will be effectively disrupted. If worse comes to worse, an unelected PM will take control of the government to assure national unity and reconcliation without the military resorting to another coup.

The military will not allow the buck to be passed again to politicians.

The only national strategy that seems not to change is that of the military staging a coup whenever their views (on how the country should be run) are challenged.
