Whats the difference.............

whistling.gif The difference is in a person's attitude and how they handle each day.

That is something you need to learn to deal with on a daily basis.

The local people you have to deal with every day are going to be the same each day.

Whether you can learn to deal with them each day depends on you and your attitude that day.

Just learn to deal with each day as it comes, and learn to take ach day as a new chance to learn something new about life.

As the saying goes, when life gives you Lemons, just make Lemonade.

I've been doing that for almost 70 years now.

I have my own method. I get 10 1,000 baht notes and let them hang out of my shirt pocket. This makes me hansum ma' everywhere I go.

Cheers.

Or a robbery victim waiting to happen.

I don`t feel like a guest or a full fledged member of Thai society, but somewhere in-between. In both instances borderline guest and resident. Like a child who has been placed with foster parents, not quite belonging. I still have to have a Thai with me to conduct certain business like trying to obtain services because not allowed to have anything in my name where Thais simply refuse to deal with me and the final signatures to seal deals has to be with a Thai.

In England I was in full control of my destiny and independent with my own affairs but over here it`s can`t do this and can`t do that, have to kiss ass with the Thais to gain anything I want. Don`t feel unwelcome, but very much controlled and under the thumb. After a while it does get frustrating and wears me down a bit, a feeling of being the under dog.

I have accepted the situation for what it is, not complaining, it was my choice, but if i could turn the clock back knowing what I know now I may have thought twice before packing up and leaving the security of actually being a real citizen in England to becoming a non citizen in Thailand because after a while the novelty of living in paradise can start to fade.

All good points, which i agree with more or less.

I recently made the mistake of watching the film "No Escape", then compounded that by foolishly reading the letters pages of the bangers post !

My time here (10 yrs) is up this year probably anyway; unless I just let my disease just kill me now.

Not quiet ready to meet Bowie yet; and I managed to worm my way back into the good old NHS 2 years ago.
