Requirement O-A visa - Sydney

Recommended Posts

apply for o-a visa from Sydney next week, but confused a s whether you need 3 set of docs or 4 sets of docs?

Sydney web site indicate 3 sets including original but Canberra web site indicate 4sets!!!!

Any one applied for o-a visa recently?

Please advice as bind and notarized services are expensive around $250.00

Why not get a Non Immi O single entry (retirement) and convert in Thailand to a one year extension (renewable annually)?

If you can't get one in Sydney get a tourist visa then go to Penang or Vientianne for the O visa or if in Bangkok go through the conversion process there at Chaeng Wattana Immi office.

Far less expense and hassle and the same end result in country.

Applied at Sydney Consulate on 15th and collected the passport today with O-A Muli entry stamp.

Will be using this to travel to Thailand frequently for short stay (last Nov. was told NOT come back without Visa, too many visa exempt), do I have to ask for re-entry stamp at exit point?

- advise at the Consulate..

You have a multi entry already. You can exit and reenter as often as you like.

You mention in op that you had docs bound etc for $250.

For Canberra I had them bound at officeworks and signed by JP. Cost zip. Maybe it has changed but others may wish to check before opting to shell out 250 clams.

Also you can post to Canberra.

Where was this?

I heard they were phasing out the wonderful JP service?

It was about 12 months ago. I mailed my application to Canberra from Melbourne. Anyway the docs were bound at officeworks then I took them to JP.

Not sure if they have now stopped accepting JP. That is why in my previous post I said check first. The consulate is good with replying to email. Can also call.

I have the situation where I haven't been back to OZ since 2011 and haven't lived there since 2008.

I may need an OA Visa to avoid going to Phuket IMMI for two years.

I've asked Canberra who do I get the Police clearance from - AFP, RTP or both?

I await their reply.

If I get a reply I'll ask if they accept a JP's certification.

Police check you can do online. With medical. Make sure you get stamp of clinic or quacks stamp. They won't accept without. Why not just get a non O based on retirement here. Somewhere like Vientiane .

Lot of stuffing around for O A.

Not as much stuffing around as an extension (I've had 4) at Phuket Immi.

The thought of not having to visit there for 2 years is very enticing.

I know I can do an AFP check online, I've done it before - but that wasn't my question.

It is only the Thai Embassy in Australia who will be able to answer you question.

At a guess I suspect they will ask for both.

If you NEED to fly to Australia for an metv then be upfront.

All you state is you want avoid phuket. Interesting.

You can fly anywhere and obtain a setv. Or visit au for METV. Up to you

Very helpful.

Brush upon your reading and comprehension skills.

Where did I say anything about METV or SETV.?

We are discussing OA Visas v. Extensions here.

I have a current live Non Immi O (retirement) from Penang.

I am on the wrong side of the Colonel at Phuket Immi because I can't climb their two flights of stairs, he treated my TG partner like sh*t and I gave him a serve on disabled access (and poor service - 5 IOs processing a total of 13 extension applications between them in a morning - it used to take 1.5 hours maximum including the re-entry permit)

So I suggest you stuff off - from this Forum as you seldom offer any constructive advice and fire off opinions half-c*cked.

Thanks - I think so too as I've had no residence in Australia since 2008.

on a side note: so he has a multi entry 0-A , lets say he goes to Laos for a trip.

And then returns, to Thailand via Nong Khai.

How many days will he be re-stamped into Thailand for?

Up till the date when the O-A was issued or 1 year or ?

Every entry (by land, sea or air) form a OA visa allows a one year entry for one year from the date of issue. It is possible to do an entry on the date the visa expires and get another one year entry.
