Denmark to seize refugees’ goods to pay for their stay

COPENHAGEN: -- Denmark has agreed to back changes to its immigration laws.

Among the proposals is a controversial new measure to take away refugees’ possessions worth around 1,500 euros to pay for their stay.

Last week Immigration Minister Inger Stojberg made clear the amount refugees could keep would be raised from the 400 euros initially suggested.

A rise in the number of asylum seekers in Denmark has created a backlash against the minority centre-right government. It has just 34 seats out of 179 in parliament and depends on the support of parties to the right of centre, including the anti-immigrants Danish People’s Party (DF).

Danes on welfare must declare their assets and any luxuries they own may/will be sold to assist the state's welfare payments. Try persuading the far left that the migrants/colonists should be subject to the same rule. Good luck with that!

This law is a joke. The Integration Minister in Denmark keeps changing this law. Now the refugees can keep their gold if it has some kind of "sentimental value".

Surely all the immigrants will change their cash to gold, and say it's a family heirloom.

Many immigrants are already starting to complain about food in the centers is not good enough, too much noise from different nationalities and their WiFi is not fast enough............

Wouldnt it be great if they were prepared to work and contribute to their new host country,

To be fair I don't think they abandoned their lives and left their families to weather the alleged violence with no menfolk around to protect them, just to work abroad. There must be something bigger at play here. Perhaps the one two knockout combo of Jizzya and spreading the prophets word to infidels(that just happen to be terrified of the democratic freedom their forefathers gave their lives for)?

Oh dear, the do gooders, aid agencies and UNHCR are likely to have a fit at this ' unfair treatment '.

Recently the BBC screwed up by airing a report that actually had negative content about migrants as they revealed that some migrants in Denmark had been offered residency but declined as they wanted to move to Sweden where the benefits were better.

Now maybe more migrants will seek to leave Denmark but where will they go as Sweden has finally tightened border controls having been in the Merkel ' all welcome ' mode and other European countries have had it with migrants especially those of the economic variety.

Merkel, Junker, Brussels and Sweden have a lot to answer for yet having made a mess of biblical proportions still expect everyone else to bail them out.

A news article from yesterday said that the Iraq embassy in Germany has issued 1,400 new passports

to Iraqi refugees in Germany wishing to go back home after the Iraqi army was successful in regaining

parts of the surrounding capital back from ISIS....

Somehow I doubt they wanted the passports so they could return, to what? More likely to give them the chance to travel more within the EU to get to a better benefit system.

Sorry to be so negative but why do they need a passport to return to their own country.

most are coming to profit of the situation and are totally not refugee at all. just ordinary immigrants who try to bypass the laws.

why not charge them? I see no problem with that. also will probably lower the flood of immigrants that misuse the current refugee flow

Not strange to see happening when on know that many countries they also change the prisoners for the stay in prison. or countries now are making plans for that to do in Europe.

research show that about 90% of the immigrant not get work and use the social system as seen in in the news last week.

One of the reasons I'm here in Thailand. You don't see them flocking here because there is no benefit system.

These are not refugees they are economic migrants with the resources to pay the people smugglers. Imagine a peasant from India or Laos trying to scrape together the thousands of dollars needed to pay their transport.

Correct ! Unfortunately the naive do gooders, can't see past their own noses,Refugee/Migrant status is and always has been about the merry tinkle of european cash registers !
