January 13, 201610 yr hello All happy new year, do i need to pass by a firm (such as a law firm) that helps process all requirements for marrying a thai lady. many thanks,
January 13, 201610 yr Not sure but you definitely need to pass by an ATM Edited January 13, 201610 yr by tonray
January 13, 201610 yr You need to visit your county Embassy here in Thailand and fill out a bio data type form and have that signed by Embassy - then you will need to give to a translation agency to translate into Thai and get it registered with Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a legal document. This may take a day or two (or longer for some - most will have the translation service also do the registration at MFA and may pickup or have mailed to them. Once that is done you and spouse can visit a District Office to register the marriage - you with paper and passport and her with ID. Be aware if previously married divorce paperwork will likely be required so for some that can be a delay if not in possession. No - you do not normally need any law firm. It is simple and done daily by many.
January 13, 201610 yr Haha like it tonray.... Ethomas you don't need a law firm to do anything. Take either your decree absolute divorce paper or if you are a widower then take your wife's death certificate or if a bachelor then your word on oath to the British Embassy in Bangkok (you now need to make an appointment online first or you wont get in) then take the affirmation certificate that they give you to the translation office in the Homepro center opposite the Embassy and they will translate the certificate and take it to get stamped at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and they will then post it to your address. The shop charge a reasonable fee and save all the stress of doing things yourself. Then when you receive the affirmation to marry in the post you are free to marry in any amphur. Hope this all makes sense to you and good luck. HL
