Water level at Lam Takhong Dam reported critically low

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 14 January 2016 (NNT) – Residents of Nakhon Ratchasima have been prohibited from using water from Lam Takhong Dam for farming as the water level has fallen below normal.

According to the director of the Lam Takhong water reserve and distribution project, the latest reading showed that the amount of water at Lam Takhong Dam was standing at 97 million cubic meters, or only 30 percent of its full capacity. The figure has prompted related officials to reduce the amount of water being released from the dam each day.

An announcement has been issued to local residents to inform them of the water situation. Farmers were also ordered not to pump water from the Lam Takhong River below the dam for agricultural use as the amount discharged is only enough for tap water production and household consumption.

Meanwhile, officials from the Army Region 2 and local administrative staff are conducting an inspection of the Lam Takhong River to make sure there are no obstructions in the waterway or improper use of water among residents.

Looks like things are going to be dire,as the dry season is

just beginning, but I am sure the Government has plans,as

this has only been building up for about 3 years now !

Too bad I can't sell some water from my land. I can't even walk through my land without becoming mired in mud. Even we have no rain here for weeks already the mornings have the trees dripping from dew.

A big difference being in the south as compared to the north

No! But I'm in the mountains and at a place the water seeps out of the ground. I'm trying now to figure how to capitalize on it.

He is trying to but every time he plants them in the ground, they find a way to wriggle out again.

Actually it has been building up for longer than that and was exacerbated but the idiot minister from the previous government who over-rode all the advice and ordered the dams to be drained down too far.

No, he wasn't from the PTP either.
