Pinto beans and tomatillo's in Bkk

Featured Replies

I read that pinto beans were to be food at, Villa, Tops, Makro, etc. I went to several stores yesterday and didn't find anything.

Since I'm asking about pinto's, I thought I'd throw in the tomatillo question.

Anybody know were they are in Bkk/Nonthaburi?

Many thanks!

I buy out the pinto beans from Tops when I see them. Have not seen any for a month. Ask a thai about the tomatillos. Thai markets have them.

Hello All, I buy McGarrett Brand dry pinto beans at The Mall

here in Korat, have you tried one of The Malls in BKK?

Really? Not that I've seen.

I have seen them in Rayong. Google tomatillos thailand images.....show the pics

to a Thai person. They will find them for you.

Those frozen beans from Makro are about 200b and there refried beans made from red beans and the have oil in them. I didnt think they were great when I tried them. So easy to make them.

Which market in Rayong please? Are the tomatillos green or orange (ripe)? I'd *love* to have a source of tomatillos in Thailand. My local market has none--I've tried the picture thing extensively.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't tried their refried beans yet. Now I won't. :D

My Gf is going on a vacation to see her sister so when she gets back I will have her get some more of them.......I would say it was the big Star Market as she goes there alot.......Yeah those beans are a no go.

What I miss are the Queens Project jalapenos....they were fantastic and fairly cheap. I smoked them and pickled them. Have not seen them for a long time.

The other products El Charro makes are great. esp the frozen corn tortillas pre cut for chips. the little vacum pack pile makes a bunch of chips....

The masa is useless for tortillas in its current form. It's ok for tamales though.

I'm still experimenting.
