Gabrielle
Quick question : why some toothpastes here (BKK) are a mixture of mint (hummm) and salt (just...) ? I've never tested it before ! (And never will again !) Edited October 18, 2006 by Gabrielle

Sing_Sling
I can understand adding salt - it enhances the sweetness of the drink/fruit . . . but why the heck add sugar syrup to an already sweet juice . . .
GuestHouse
Salt is one of the oldest means of cleaning teath going back thousands of years, and not without good cause, it does have some hygene benefits. Also you might find salt and soda mixtures which are particularly good at polishing teeth.
lopburi3
Believe it is a natural way to neutralize the acids in your mouth (both for smell and plaque reasons) as a salty mouth will make your saliva flow. Making a natural mouthwash.

mosquitoman
I started using the salt based toothpaste (Salz brand) here in Thailand a couple of years ago, it took a bit of getting use to, now I swear by it, my gums are healthier than they have ever been. If I now use regular toothpaste I find it tatses disgusting almost as if its got sugar added.
