Just when I was understanding what I thought I needed to do to extend my visa, my company tells me that they have to cancel my current visa because its part of a "Board of investment" scheme, the company Visa expert is saying that I dont need to leave the country to apply for a new one and I have 22 days grace after the visia expries to renew. I leave 30th April so I have sometime. Does anyone have experince in this area?

Also what is current neeeds for a new non immi O visa? or how does it differ from visa extension by marriage?

Any help would be good smile.pngbiggrin.png

Again I must say you don't have a visa. You have an extension of stay. You could of posted this in your other topic.

As far as I know there is no 22 days after your employment ends. They may give you 7 days to leave the country.

You will need a termination letter to cancel your extension at the one stop center if that was where it was done and then go to your local immigration office to apply for the 60 day extension that was discussed in the other topic.

Op is also not clear if his employment is being terminated. It appears the company is reaching the end of it's BOI period. These normally last a number of years and are company matters, such as reduced tax, subsidised rent on offices and buildings etc. The company can continue trading but without special arrangements. These are not really related to the OP.

The BOI do not issue special work permits, to my knowledge. They are simply facilitators in the normal process, where the WP is issued by Dept of Labour and then Immigration grant the extension of stay.

I also work for a BOI firm and when I joined I had to cancel my previous permission to stay along with my work permit (non BOI). I then had to buy a 7 day extension (1900 thb iirc) and then go out of the country returning on a 30 day entry.

Then all my paperwork was processed and I had to go up to Chamchurri Sq in BKK to do the signing bits.

I had a similar experience.

Worked under BOI for 3 years, then company lost their BOI status.

Extension of stay under BOI conditions was cancelled, WP was cancelled. Then new extension for Non-immigrant B was applied for together with a new workpermit.

I didn't have to leave the country for this.

If you fall under BOI, then your extension and WP are done at Chamchuri.

If you don't fall under BOI, but you are of manager class or higher than you can do your extension and WP at Chamchuri

If you don't fall under BOI, but you are lower than manager class than your extension is done at Chaeng Wattana and your WP is done at Din Daeng (ministry of Labour).

Anyway that's what the lady who works at our office and handles all this told me.

PS: Give me Chaeng Wattana over Chamchuri ANYTIME.

I have had an interesting day, talking to several legal companies that offer services for visas, I received conflicting advice. In the end I went the immigration office in Chachoengsao, they were very helpful. This what they told me.

1. I can apply for a new visa, after I get the cancellation from BOI

2. BOI will say how long I can remain in the country, I think it's likely to be only 7 days

3. If I don't get the visa in the time the BOI allow, they will extend the time allowed in the country by 30 days because I have a 11 month old son (with Thai wife).

I have one question does anyone know the process of getting a guarantee of monthly income for my pension (67KTHB) it needs a UK embassy document?
