Buying Apple Cider Vinegar

Featured Replies

Where is the cheapest place to buy apple cider vinegar?

Is there anything available other the expensive imported western brands?

Thank You

Big C ,they have their own Casino brand, its a lot cheaper than,

Heinz,or S&W,think it was 125 THB a bottle,5% acid,made in France.

BigC is a french company; owned by Casino - St Etienne - 42000 ;

But the question is " the cheapest place " so :

Is it an thai apple cider vinegar here in Thailand ?

I think the answer will be : NO sad.png

Rimping stocks a few brands, including Heinz @B125-B135, and one or two truly-expensive 'authentic' ones.

funny just today I saw a huge floor display at makro super highway

A huge floor display of Apple Cider Vinegar ?,i did not think there was

that much demand for it,will look out for it tomorrow.

There has been some very inexpensive apple cider vinegar for sale at Makro. It's Korean and in the Korean food section.

I know that vinegar is vinegar, apple cider vinegar gives a lift to all sorts of stews and the like when added in the last few minutes of cooking, but I discovered that lemon juice isn't always lemon juice. I always keep a bottle in the kitchen because lemons aren't that widely available here and you always need one when you haven't got time to defrost one of the emergency ones in the freezer, but the Thai bottled lemon juice is just some acid with 5% what I think is lemon - the stuff I bring back from Australia is 99% lemon juice concentrate and 1% some acid. Massive difference in taste and probably what's good for you. I would worry that any local apple cider vinegar might be the same. I remember when living in Malaysia I picked up some white vinegar in a supermarket and after looking at the label discovering that there is such a thing as artificial vinegar. That was the cheap white stuff, so I wouldn't doubt that they'll do it to the more expensive stuff too.

At least in Malaysia I could read the labels or take a photograph with my phone and go home and find translations. Here, I worry about things like that so will often opt for an imported brand purely because I can read the label. Except when the Thai importer puts their white sticky label over the top of the ingredients, but that's another story altogether.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

Price check, when i think about it ,the price was 80-90 THB,so lot cheaper than U.S. brands.

Noi sells a product made by her family (label below) that reminds me of apple cider vinegar in smell and taste. It is a mix of over 30 Thai fruits aged several years (4-6). She calls it Empatis, label says Fruit Enzyme.

500ml - 290B, 250ml - 150B

Label did not copy, perhaps too large a file - try again

I checked the price of the Korean Apple Cider Vinegar at Makro. It costs wither 160 baht for 1.8 liters or 99 baht (or maybe 90 baht) for 0,9 liters.

The label says "apple vinegar." It's not quite the same as apple cider vinegar, less potent.

Apple cider vinegar and apple vinegar not same. You can drink apple cider vinegar but not apple vinegar.

I tried to find apple vinegar on the internet but no luck. Then I looked up Korean apple vinegar. It's apple cider vinegar.

The japanese make some great apple cider vinegar. They drink it regularly

I've tried the Korean version before, and the taste is different. They may use a different process for making the vinegar, instead of using pure apple cider they may have mixed it with sugar and/or water as the flavor is quite mild when comparing it to apple cider vinegar. It's up to the OP whether he chooses to purchase the item. But just wanted to give an informed opinion of the product.

I've purchased a German brand of what looked like an organic brand of apple cider vinegar at the grocery store on the ground floor of Central Festival. I think is was 750ml for under 140 baht.
