Reporters swarm Vanda 'Bow' Sahawong and Chawanan 'Pin' Sahawong, wife and brother of late actor Thrisadee 'Por' Sahawong, as they tried to lead a ceremonial procession Tuesday to accompany the late actor’s body as it was transferred from Ramathibodi Hospital in Bangkok.

BANGKOK — Wind the clock back three months ago to a time when many people, especially those who don’t watch lakorn, had never heard of Thrissadee “Por” Sahawong.

That changed when he was stricken with dengue fever and fell into a coma in November. For the next 71 days, Thrissadee’s struggle for survival was beamed into every living room and onto every screen as an object of obsessive media attention, thanks to crowds of reporters camped right outside his ward at Bangkok’s Ramathibodi Hospital.

The frenzy reached its zenith when Thrissadee finally died Monday. TV reporters and photographers mobbed his family as they carried his body from the hospital. One photographer even pressed his camera lens against an incense pot held by Thrissadee’s brother, which was supposed to lead the late celebrity’s spirit back home.

If the family really wanted privacy they should have stopped giving interviews. Now they are angry at media but they probably made a fortune in the last few weeks....

If they didn't want media attention, then why parade the body publicly. Gotta call BS on the hype. If it was my Super-star family member, I'm sure the deceased estate could afford having the body moved anonymously to an undisclosed location, and with no fanfare. But parade in front of the media? Like swimming in a pool of sharks while oozing blood from a cut leg. Really, what does a rational person think is going to happen.

I have no sympathy for lakorn or the media, nor the followers of both. Absolutely tragic what happen to Mr. Por, and his death should be publicized as a public awareness campaign regarding the dangers of dengue and a call to action for the government to fund attempts to find a vaccine for the disease, and eradicate breeding locations. But in this day and age, you can hire security specialist to make the process of moving his body, his funeral, and cremation a strictly private affair. But the family chose a public display. Only the family is to blame. The family are not victims. They have enough money to assure privacy if that's what they wanted.

I was told by my Gf that tickets for the funeral are on sale. Special busses out of Bkk to the 'event' are scheduled.
