Tyre sizes, Wheels

Featured Replies

Hi All, at the moment I have 265/35/18's all round on my RX8, about to change these, been advised to stick with 265/35/18 rear, put 235/35/18 front, keep the same wheels 18*10J.

Any one have any opinion on this.

Thank you.

Regards Tom

Having Driven Rotary engined cars since 1972 and raced many of them in Oz i cannot understand why you would want smaller tyres on the front. RX8's do not hang the back out like an RX7 does so why bigger tyres on the back. My advise is to keep it uniform and buy the best handleing tyres with the most grip, especially for the wet conditions you encounter in Thailand. Grip is essential, Not width. I have driven both RX7's and 8's in Oz for around 200,000 K's and would prefer the RX7 anyday of the week.

Thank you for the up date.

RX8 Nissan SR20 DET

I find the more I find out the less I know, one of my wheels is damaged so it will need to be changed, and offset has been explained to me, so if the offset on the new wheel is different to the other 3, so then would need to buy a pair, and the pair with the largest offset be fitted to the rear.

Would this then be acceptable for wheel alignment setting and so forth.

Thank you.

There must be at least 4 RX8 forums , why not ask there?

10" rims are much too wide for a 235.

Should be around 8" wide for a 235.

The 235's are also 21mm smaller in diameter.

I agree with DJH77, and suggest keeping what you have, although it's probably a bit over tyred already.
