Pattaya is one of the best party cities in the world

I have lived near Pattaya for 2 years now and I never bored in this city. There is so much do to for entertainment at almost any budget. There aren't any super upscale clubs like BKK, but there is everything in between. Next month there is the Pattaya Music festival with world class DJs like Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. There is also live music all over the city that play cover songs and are quite good. Walking street alone has more to offer entertainment wise than most cities. And no I don't mean just about the ladies, just bars and night clubs in general.

You can stay at 5 star hotel for a decent price or a hole in the wall for next to nothing. Transportation is dirt cheap. And you can go out until the sun comes up if you want to nearly any night of the week. I never really feel worried about my safety either. If you have a decent amount of common sense and don't get mixed up with illegal activity its unlikely you will have a problem.

I know plenty of people bash Pattaya and see no positive side of the city. For me I like it better here than Bangkok. Its just so much more convenient to go out and do anything. The clubs in BKK shuts down at 2 am (or something like that) but the traffic never stops, but oddly the Skytrain does at midnight.

Anyway, that's my 2 baht. I have been to major cities all around USA and Asia and have never found a place to go out and have a good time that I enjoy more than here.

Cannot arque with that.It is party central. If a guy is level headed and stays away from illegal things and behaves himself can party till he drops and have no problem. if he just wants fun and knows when to stop a guy will be fine. But if a guy makes a problem at all it gets around quick and then the guy has to watch his step.

london, new york, new orleans, reykjavic, las vegas, barcelona, sydney, rio - for starters.

Pattaya is fun as said before but take away the girls and good weather and has little. No great music venues, clubs or bars. It is what it is.

Reykjvic a party town? LOL. Hopefully the other 92 in your list make more sense.

NYC is good, no doubt, but at around $140 per night just for hotel room most people can rarely participate.

I don't know about you guys but I like my nights to have a fairy tale ending virtually assured. None of the other cities mentioned offer that; Pattaya does.

Really who cares if you're out all night getting drunk if you go home alone?

Take away the casinos from Vegas and what do you have? A desert in the middle of nowhere with nothing.

Vegas is way overrated in my opinion anyway. The Vegas experience is mostly about paying a lot of money for very little in return. It's mainly about showing off how much money you have and then just giving a lot of it away. I've had my fill of Vegas.

I meet cool people from all over the world in pattaya. They are friendly and approachable. I have not experienced that kind of atmosphere anywhere else.

it's not the same type of clubs and parties.

those you mention are for the in-crowds, superficial, expensive and elitist, where a good appearance is often a requirement to even be permitted to enter, and where girls look on your shoes and watch before even talking to you... no thanks!

Pattaya is for everyone.

Pattaya is fun city but there are times when you just want to not live in a tourist party town and live in a more normal place. Other than the crime my biggest problem was finding a lady. Not at hooker but a real lady who works a normal job. Also when you do bring a lady there everyone assumes she is a hooker. Living in Bkk now and office girls by the thousands and never a bar fine or talk of money. I love Bangkok :)

I don't disagree with what you are saying, but it's not really relevant to whether or not Pattaya is a great party city.

I live in Naklua to stay away from the madness on a daily basis. I choose to party when I want to. I don't need thousands of office girls to choose from. I found a nice office girl and I'm happy with her. And we enjoy to go to and party and dance sometimes.

Try partying in London or New York on $100 a day, best of luck.

This is more for the younger crowds...

The dance music festival started out a few years ago as a copy of Singapore's Zoukout.... ok, the DJs might be international enough, but normally the city's dance music doesn't hold a candle to most of the international beach destination... even Bangkok has better night club scene...

It seem to comes down to taste mostly

Actually, if it wasn't for the sex trade, attractions are mediocre at best. I don't see many internationally known bands/artists that perform there. Best gogo bars maybe...best short time...maybe....most girls packed on one soi, for your pleasure...for sure. Like somebody said...it is what it is...and good for that. Not everyone is into that aspect.

Other possible posts could have been ...

  • Does my bar-girl girlfriend who's half my age really love me?
  • Does anyone else hate being called farang?
  • Why am I woke by roosters every morning?

Or the old favourite ...

How long is a piece of string?

Pattaya has been a great place to party for years and years. Top DJ's ... Armin Van Buuren! Heavy, Dutch techno, great!?

Whatever blows your skirt up! Some like it, some think it's despicable. I'm about in the middle of that.

For me, it's generally a nasty place; hell on earth, so to speak... Sometimes, although, I do like to go to the dark side for a bit of a change. After all, it's only an hour and a bit drive from Bangkok.

I just couldn't be very happy living on a beach where I wouldn't swim in its ocean.

Definitely depends on how one defines having a "good time".

If girls and good weather are not an important component, then sure, have fun bonding with the guys in the ice and snow of New York and Reykjavic. Or enjoy the thrill of handing your cash over to the casino billionaires of Vegas.

For me, a night in Pattaya is the very definition of a "good time", and the price is right too!

Its best depending on your own experience. I personally think most big cities can be good as long as you are with the right group of people, for some folks they can go out alone and mingle and have all the fun in the world.

For example if you were to talk to girls in Thailand, many would respond and have a toast with you.

In many Western countries, you will get in trouble with their boyfriends, I've seen it countless times a fight ensues.

Its a lot easier to socialize with others in Asian countries, its cheaper which leads to more drunkness.

Clubing experience is better in the West for its facilities, decoration, and creativity.
