Extension of stay - overstay rules?

Featured Replies

Hey,

I got a non O stamp based on thai wife from CW in Bangkok which is valid for 60 days. Once the 60 days where almost up I went to CW again, showed the 400k in the bank (letter from the bank), brought my wife, filled out a few forms and got another 12 months extension of stay based on thai wife.

Now I have to do 90 day reports. If I do my 90 day report a few days late, it won't count as overstay correct?

Once the 12 months are up and I will fly out 2-3 days after the extension of stay period is up - am I automatically banned or is there any form of grace period?

You can do 90 day reports 15 days early and 7 days late.

If you are not arrested and prosecuted you would not be banned for 3 days overstay.

Thank you!

Is there still the 500 baht fine per day for a certain amount of days or what happens with the new rules if you are a few days over and show up at the airport?

500 Baht a day. So 3 days would be 1,500 Baht.

All clear :) Thanks a lot!

Why would you be flying out 2-3 days past your extension of stay? Why not just renew the extension of stay?

Has nothing to do overstay

90 day reporting has nothing to do with overstay. It is just a reporting of current address. It is not a visa or extension of stay on your O visa

THe worst that can happy is a fine of 5000 baht if the police catch you or 2000 baht if you are reporting late.

This is not an overstay You are good with your extension for 1 year

Yes. 90 day reporting has nothing to do with Visas or overstaying.

Two totally different processes.

I'm gonna hijack this thread to ask relevant question, so my visa extension expires 3 days before i have flight out of the country. This is tourist 2+1 months visa (I'm currently using 30 days extension). So is there a way to extend visa for few days more past 90 days, or I'm best with just paying the 1500 THB fine at the airport?

You can apply for a 7 day extension, pay the 1900 baht fee and be given 7 days to leave the country.

Is spending half day at immigration and 400thb extra worth it, instead just paying 1500 THB fine upon leaving the country? I guess it boils down to how bad is to have that red stamp that says OVERSTAY in your passport, right?

Also the chance of being caught with an overstay before you get to the airport.

The overstay stamp is not red all that I have seen are blue..
