Visiting Family For 6 Months

Featured Replies

Hi,

With the new laws I am not sure how to stay for 6 months. I am 48, American, Thai wife and kids. I do not have 10k in a Thai bank.

I am guessing I can apply for and get an O visa for family reasons that last 90 days, then cross into Burma 3 times for 30 day arrival stamps, total being about 6 months. Will this work?? Is there any option??

Thanks for your help, I am sure you have been busy. Best regards, Lee

That would work but I would apply for a multi entry non immigrant O visa from a Consulate in the USA which will be valid for a year and then you can come/go as you wish with up to a 90 day stay each time.

Thanks for answering!

Good idea, could be a more useful visa. The application from New York ask how many entries, what would be a good number to put in there? How big will they accept, I wonder? I would like to have the option for 4 entries but am concerned they would reject it.

With multi-entry, is it possible to use 2 entries back to back or is it only in a 6 month period you can use just one 90 day stay?

A non immigrant visa will either be single entry or multi (meaning unlimited) and valid for one year. I would deal with one of the honorary Consulates that are not so busy myself as they seem to be more likely to issue multi entry. You can come one day, leave the next, and come back later in the day if you want. There is no restriction on use at this point; that anyone is aware of.

ask for a multi from Denver .... just send your info and passport etc :o

In the 'entries' box put "multi" (assuming you're asking for an O visa), this will be valid for 12 months from issue.

With a multi-entry visa you can go in and out every day if you like, no restrictions :o You will get a 90 day permit to stay every time you enter EVEN if you enter on the last day of your visa's validity. Time it right and you can get up to 15 months in the kingdom :D:)
