"There is no finer example of this contempt than the ThaiVisa forum;"

You, and the article on Stick, left out the successful foreigner who came here and saw that Thailand was not what Thailand represents itself to be.

While some facets of the move work for the time being, due to the difference in values, education, ambition and life direction, (not to mention all of the lies, scams, dual-pricing, racism directed toward them and countless impositions) they avoid the native population.

If you find my statements to be contemptible, too bad. The truth hurts. coffee1.gif

"This city is full of once-burnt divorced men who were either so shattered by their previous marriages — or so disenchanted by the era of leftist feminism — that they felt compelled to move thousands of miles east to find a ‘proper woman’.And by proper woman, I mean one straight out of the 1940s."

Comparing Thai Woman to European Woman from the 1940s

I wasnt around in the 1940's , so I will have to take his word for it .

Although Im finding it very difficult to envisage any similarities at all

A time perhaps when females were feminine and not pseudo males?

That depends on how you define 'feminine'. I guess your definition might be different to mine.

I think that the OP is just writing a not factual opinion piece , so he has to make somewhat controversial in order to get the clicks .

If he were to write " Some Foreigners retire from their office job and come to live happily in retirement , do the gardening everyday, play golf on Sundays and listen to Raid 2 most afternoons and have given up drinking and smoking on doctors orders"

No one would take much notice of it .

Or maybe the author is just a serial moaner who just likes complaining and criticising everything and everyone , there are many of those in Thailand, I wonder why the author didnt mention them ?

"the successful foreigner who came here and saw that Thailand was not what Thailand represents itself to be."

I doubt many foreigners who merit the adjective "successful" would blindly settle in Thailand based on some silly notion that this was an adult DisneyLand or tropical paradise. Successful people make major decisions after doing their own due diligence and, most probably, after giving life in Thailand a trial run before making any irreversible commitments. "Fools rush in ..." not successful people.

"If you find my statements to be contemptible, too bad. The truth hurts"

Throwing a hissy fit simply makes it obvious you made some poor decisions and want to lash out at Thais and Thailand because you never took the time to understand life here. Your own personal truth may hurt because you don't want to take responsibility for the choices you made ... much easier to blame someone else, but generally the truth doesn't hurt and throwing a tantrum does not make your laundry list of imagined grievances the truth for everyone. "Countless impositions??" Poor dear. Clearly life is challenging for you, what with the impositions and all. I don't think you have a clue what racism is like in the real world.

Thailand is not for everyone. There are plenty of other places in the world to settle that might suit you better. No need to feel Thailand represented itself to be something it is not ... whatever that means. Did someone from Thailand visit you in Farang Land and hoodwink you into coming here?

But it is you with the thin skin that has a "hissy fit" when you see one negative word about Thailand. "The truth hurts"
