Question regarding Visa extension date

If the Visa 60 day limit(going out of country border or paying at immigration) is expiring in another 20 days and I plan to extend it now, will it start from the date of application or from the date of expiry?

Date of expiry. Nothing is lost by applying for an extension one or two weeks in advance.
