LAUSANNE: -- Chef Benoit Violier, whose Swiss restaurant was named the best in the world in December, has been found dead at his home.

Experimenting too much with non-traditional ingredients?

R.I.P. Chef

.........it says....... 'It appears that he shot himself'....

...and others stated....'He appeared to be perfect'......

...shocking to say the least.....wonder what we did not know about him and his life.....

Someone must have complained about the "merde on a shingle" :(

A sad loss. My condolences to his friends and family.

This was a sad story...I'm not a foodie by any means but for someone who was at the top of his profession to end it all is sad indeed. I suppose, at this level, it's more like being an artist than a craftsman and such people are always on the edge. Or it could have been just business or personal problems...but still sad and so young too.

shot himself...

not difficult to imagine why.

RIP

The pressure probably got too him from every idiot photographing his food and posting on line reviews whilst dining.A most annoying and rude habit.

Financial problems?

Very very sad indeed......I would have thought poor Robin Williams would have been one of the happiest men in the world. Perhaps the Chef of Chefs was super depressed as well.......

Someone said 'the soup is too salty'......?

I know, in bad taste...darn I did it again!
