BANGKOK: - The Election Commission has filed a complaint with Thung Song Hong police accusing its former secretary-general, Mr Puchong Nutrawong, of defamation.

The EC also rejected Mr Puchong’s appeal against the termination of his employment at the EC’s office, said Mr Thanit Sriprathet, an EC specialist, who declined to explain why Mr Puchong’s appeal was turned down.

Mr Thanit disclosed that the EC endorsed an announcement of the opening of applications for the secretary-general’s post to replace Mr Puchong.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications: between 45-65 years old, honest and political impartial, must have experience and achievements in administration, used to be a government official or used to work in charter-mandated organizations at management level, used to be a deputy director-general or deputy governor.

If the applicants used to work in independent organisastions, he or she must hold the rank of a secretary-general for at least two years. If the applicants work in private sector, he or she must be an executive overseeing a business operation worth about two billion baht a year.

Applicants must be honest and politically impartial ! cheesy.gif

I think they have have to lower the bar considerably or the post will be vacant for a long time.

What happened? What did the guy do? Turn 66 and wanted to stay on?

I'm confused.

I think they have have to lower the bar considerably or the post will be vacant for a long time.

Indeed. ''Applicants must be alive'' is a more realistic requirement :D

Wonder how much this position costs to obtain, both upfront and in future kickbacks, to the winning candidate's "supporters"?

The EC's incompetence has been widely reported in newspapers. There was no election.

I find it hard to believe its former Secretary General could defame them any more than

they have already done themselves. facepalm.gif
