Temperatures to drop 3-5 degrees this weekend

BANGKOK: -- Temperatures in the upper part of the country will drop 3-5 degrees this coming weekend as a new round of moderately cold snap is moving down from Mainland China to blanket the country.

The Meteorological Department said today that another moderately cold weather is moving down and expects to blanket the country’s upper part from February 5-8.

It’s presence will result in the dropping of temperatures by 3-5 degrees in Thailand’s Northern, Northeastern, Central, and upper Eastern regions.

Northeasterly monsoon wind that is blowing through the Gulf of Thailand and the Southern region will be strengthened, thus 2-3 metres high waves are expected in the southern sea from Surat Thani province down to the southernmost provinces.

The department then warns fishing boats to keep monitoring of the weather situation and take full precaution in sailing to the high sea during the period.

Minimum temperatures during the period in the Upper North will be 12-14 ํC, Lower North 17-18 ํC, Northeast 13-17 ํC, Central 20-22 ํC, East 22-24 ํC, South 23-26 ํC.

Minimum temperatures in Bangkok will be 23-24 ํC, while maximum temperatures will be 32-33 degrees.

Just when it was getting barely survivable.

Now, we ALSO have to deal with cold weather coming down from China. There is no god.

curious to know how these cold snaps affect crops in Thailaand.

in the USA, we have cold snaps that can wipe out entire citrus crops in California and Florida. obviously totally different here, but maybe same same for some plants.

sometimes with other crops the effect is not realized until the plant bares small or little fruit months later.

Just when it was getting barely survivable.

Not sure where you live Dr......but last week in sunny Hua Hin/Cha Am, it was darn Cold!!

What I meant, just when the temps have risen to above freezing, here comes the ice age again. Anything under 25 is akin to waterboarding.

That different here: it is a Thai cold snap: 3 degrees...

In other words a HUGE drop :)

Sounds very nice to me. The dogs and I will enjoy walking without being completely overheated.

I thought is was already to be cold, but that didn't happen. will this one?

Looks like my bobble hats and gloves will be out again. (I'm not joking).

So with the 3 cooler days last week and now maybe 2 days , that will be 5 days a year that Thailand is beareble. I so hate the tropics. But thank you China !

And from mid februari till mid may , we have to hold our breath.

I have my fingers crossed. thumbsup.gif

I look all the time for anything under twenty five, and of course a virgin, been looking fifty seven years.

Bring it. I'll chalk it up to global warming....err climate change.

I'm crossing my fingers if there is such A thing as climate change. They quit talking global warming, that from now on January and February will be A little cooler.

Sounds lovely , all my outdoor activities increases when we get cooler weather here. I enjoy every minute of it.

But maybe next year the climate change again and it will be a little hotter in January and February.

What on earth are you doing here then. Bangkok is one of the hottest cities on earth for average temperatures.

As a previous poster stated, 'why didn't you choose Taiwan'?, at least a bit cooler.

And one of the hottest in other ways as well, plenty of places to get warmed up, or try Pattaya just for a change.

I live in North Thailand not Bangkok. If I lived in Bangkok , I probably would already have dived from a 5 story balcony or shopping mail floor....

If I could go back home, I would. Taiwan ... no thanks.
