Hi there,

Is it possible to get a single entry visa in Phnom Penh now?

I have not been there before, normally I go to Vientiane.

Are there any special requirements or just 1000 THB + filling out the form?

Additional information: I have a Swedish passport containing a previously transferred ED visa and a tourist double entry visa which soon expires. There are no red or blue warning stamps in this passport.

Unless you use an agent it can take up to 3 days to get the visa. Mixed reports about them wanting to see s ticket out of the country.

The fee is $40 US.

Why would the Thai consulate want to see a ticket out of Cambodia? It doesn't make sense. Or do you mean a ticket out of Thailand.

Really, the fee is that much higher? So it's not 1000 Baht as in Savannakhet or Vientiane?

Anyone else has feedback on this subject?

Ok, I assume you mean they might want to see a ticket out of Thailand.

Can anyone confirm that they will ask about this?

Also, can anyone confirm if they want to see bank statements or other additional requirements?

Hmm... I would really prefer going to Phnom Penh rather than going to Savannakhet but I don't know about how to solve the ticket issue. I don't want to buy an expensive flight ticket just for that purpose.

Do you think they would accept a train ticket from Aranyaprathet to Bangkok and from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet at a later date? Aranyaprathet is close to the border. It's far fetched I know, but I would really like to come up with a way that allows me to apply for the visa in Phnom Penh rather than Savannakhet.

Any other way of making that possible? Showing them a bus ticket from Poipet to Aranyaprathet and back maybe : )

I got one 2 months ago. I used an agent. $50 total for next day service.

Did you have to show a flight ticket or bus ticket in and out of Thailand?

Also, did you have to show bank statements or proof of income?

I don't think it's easy getting a SETV there, last year a friend of mine used a agent to get one, the agent returned and said the consulate staff had requested a interview with my friend, he had been living in Thailand for the previous 5 years on a assortment of visas, he never went to the interview, just returned back to Thiland on a visa exempt

Also I see http://www.thaivisaservice.com/ have started to do trips there but interesting that they state "new passport" which I would assume if you have a lot of history in a old Passport it could lead to issues getting a SETV

Visa Application – Phnom Penh/Cambodia

Starting now, Westerner with new Passport can apply Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) from Phom Penh,
4Day/3Nights, THB 2,400.- for trip, THB 2,700.- for Visa Service.
Hotel and Food at border, start USD 15.-/day or travel to Angkor Wat or Battambang. Join our regular daily trip on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. If go Sunday, come back Wednesday. If go Monday, come back Thursday. If go Tuesday, come back Friday.

Just to add when i used an agent no plane ticket out of Thailand was required.

Where did you get your agent? All the way from Bangkok or did you travel there alone first and found a local agent?

I got a single entry from Phnom Penh last week. It was a really simple process. I used an "agent" (actually one of the security guards) outside the embassy to speed up the process and got my visa in 24 hours.

They asked me for my outbound ticket (leaving Thailand). I didn't have one (said something about traveling overland to Singapore) so instead they asked for proof of finances. Luckily I had my up-to-date bank book with me that they photocopied. Similarly they wanted proof of my address in Thailand, which I also had with me. It's a good idea to get your documents photocopied in advance as they'll charge you a premium to do it there. Same as getting your photos done in advance. It's also probably worth saying that my passport is full of Thai visas stretching over 3 years. They didn't bat an eyelid at them. But I did use the guy outside to help speed up the process and make sure my application was accepted on the day. He wanted US$10 and a cigarette for his services, which I thought was good value. Collected my passport the next day as advised, no problems.

Usually, the security guard handles everything - hand him your passport, pics, and the agreed upon $$, and pick it up when it's ready. He even offered to deliver it to my Guesthouse.

Going inside the Embassy just complicates things. Let the guard do it. I think I paid $55 all inclusive a couple years ago. Happy to do it. He's a good guy.
