Fire at auto spare part factory



BANGKOK: -- A midnight fire broke out last night at an automative spare part manufacturing factory inside the Bangpoo Industrial Estate in Samut Prakarn province, causing initial damage estimated at five million baht.

The brief fire was reported to have happened at View Tech Asia Co shortly after midnight.

The fire started at a plastic melting furnace and quickly spread to nearby plastic pellets.

Three fire engines were called in and help to put the fire 15 minutes later before it spread to engulf the whole factory building.

Initial damage was put at five million baht. Preliminary investigation showed the furnace could be overheated and triggered the fire.

Chinese lightening perhaps, economic times are tough currently.

To be fair though, Samut Prakarn is mostly just factories - it's like a ghost town over Songkran when all the factory workers go home.
