Does anyone know if Makro require shoppers to have a Makro card or can anyone without a card get served?

Walk in mate and if they ask for it say you don't have it today they scan a card on their counter and let you buy whatever you have in the trolley

You don't. You can get a temporary membership number at customer services, but you still don't even need that at check out.

It isn't strictly enforced. If you want to receive offers from them, discount coupons, and a promotional newspaper then sign up.

If you don't want junk mail or them to sell your personal information to 3rd parties don't bother.

Smile at the checkout, say Mai mee kap/ka. No problem.

At my first visit at Makro Khon Kaen (2011 or so) I asked about a card.

Blank stares ???
Finally I could workout: not needed.

(they seem hesitant to make me one, farang makes headache)

So I shopped, told that I have no card at checkout.

No problem.

In the meantime I use daughters card for shopkeeper.

Looks identical, but you get a full size bill with some extra details (tax or so).

With a "normal" card or none you get a "slip" from a small printer.

Absolutely no difference in pricing.

Just collecting points and getting a catalog/leaflet via smail mail.

Shopped there last week, without card and had no problems.

Even if it looked similar, which it doesn't, completely different owners and they scan the bar code that's on the front. As others have said not a problem not having one.

The checkout girl's love it when they get to use their card on your purchases. The points add up and go towards bonus items for them!
