Can I make it?

Featured Replies

Getting a bit sick of these visa runs.

So, I am sure this has been answered before, so please forgive me.

I am taking a sleeper train from BKK to Vientiane.

I know the train from Nong Kai starts only at 10am.

If I take a tuktuk to the border, finish all the immigration formalities and take a bus to VTE, will I be on time to apply for a tourist visa at Thai consulate?

Or do I need to wait until tomorrow?

Is this a question from an exam paper??

Thai train timetables are works of fiction. There is not only a risk, but a likelihood, that the train will be an hour or more late.

Well, it's supposed to arrive at Nong Kai at 6:45am.

My question is if I take tuktuk from Nong Kai train station to immigration, clear it and take a bus, can I make it on time to apply for tourist visa on the same day.

You should have enough time to make it to the consular section by 11:30 am.

I did take the sleeper I thought it arrived at 8.45 but is often late and did arrive before 11 at Embassy a couple of times.

There is no time for buses from border; though just a cab straight to embassy.

When I did it a few yeard ago there was no choice but to hand in the papers on arrival day and collect the visa the next morning.
