Is YT blocked in Thailand?

Featured Replies

This morning, Wednesday 2016 Feb 10 in Chiang Mai, I can load a YT page but not play the video. I get an error mesage.

Embedded YT video on another site gives same result.

DailyMotion, a YT alternative, works fine.

Do others have this problem or just poor little old me?

If other expats here have the same problem, then maybe someone who uses VPN can confirm whether the problem is worldwide, or just Thailand?

Videos play fine for me on ToT fibre in BKK.

Well thanks for the response but...

...AW CRAP.

I seem to be in my own personal bubble of annoyances. I'll just go suck my thumb then.

No problem here. Something with your machine.

3BB Chiang Mai and no issues playing YT videos. Try another browser to see if the same problem. Also, try hitting the CTRL+F5 key to see if it is a local caching issue.

//edit - just noticed comments on this site some are having problems though YT itself hasn't been down for at least a week. http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/youtube.com.html

3bb Pattaya, YT loads very very slowly since a few days. Often enough, the video don't start. Even on low resolution.

Youtube blocked???

No more soap operas, morlarm, lukthung etc. from YT???

=> Triggering national uprise!

Just total blocking of FB could come closer to a national desaster.

To be serious:

Example link!

Exact wording of error message!

What browser/version/device!

Zero problem for me.

All colorful and noisy.

It could possible be your Adobe Flash being auto blocked for being an outdated version. Today I had to update (on Linux Mint).

Could be possible, but seems to OP has got the point at his device.

On modern browsers under Windows the times of Flash Player in youtube are over.

Certain Youtube ( and others ) videos are blocked from being viewed in Thailand. shock1.gif

YouTube switched over to HTML5 for video quite a while ago.

Much less than in Germany but for other reasons there (music copyright/royalty court battle and Nazi stuff e.g.).

Try checking your dns, i found that recently there are communication errors out of Thailand. Yesterday 3BB lost 8.8.8.8 could only see 8.8.4.4. Which could be a problem if someone set up your dns for you?

Also True has issues in East Pattaya with there internal network and wouldn't allow SIP registration.

Whilst the single gateway is being installed you will see intermittent issues and performance decrease.
