Thailand Q4 GDP beats expectations

Thailand's economy grew by more than expected in both the fourth quarter – and for 2015 as a whole.

Year-on-year the economy grew 2.8 per cent in the last three months of 2015, compared to economists’ expectations of 2.6 per cent. On an annualised basis the economy grew 2.8 per cent last year, compared to 0.9 per cent in 2014. Economists had expected it to grow 2.7 per cent.

Not so great, any way you slice it.

On an annualised basis the economy grew 2.8 per cent last year, compared to 0.9 per cent in 2014. Economists had expected it to grow 2.7 per cent.

Hope and desire springs eternal:

"The government is confident that the Thai economy will grow by 4 per cent this year, driven by many stimulus strategies, as well as closer cooperation between government and private sector." - Commerce Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya, The Nation 2015-01-13

"Thailand's gross domestic product would expand by at least 4 per cent this year." - MR PRIDIYATHORN DEVAKULA, deputy prime minister in charge of the economy, The Nation 2015-01-15

"gross domestic product could expand by 4 per cent this year." Bank of Thailand Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul, The Nation 2015-02-06

Prayut governement on the 2015 economy - FAIL

Yeah, any current or future government has gotta go some to equal the PTP performance - a 450% increase in wealth during their term.

Oh wait, that was just one family.
