Laptop At Internet Café In Samui

Featured Replies

Is there an Internet Café in Samui that will let me use my own laptop. I have lost count of the internet cafes I’ve been to in Chawang and not one will let me use my own laptop. And I’ve haven’t been able to get the hotspots working either. This is the first place in Thailand that I’ve had a problem.

It’s doesn’t need to be in Chawang, but if anyone knows of an internet café being run by reasonable people that will let me use my own gear, I’d really appreciate it.

There is a Ichiwawa hotspot in Bophut somewhere around the Happy Elephant restaurant and also at the BBC Restaurant in Bangrak. http://www.ichiwawa.net/ichiwawhere.html

If you ever get to Koh Pha Ngan, in Thong Sala, there are a couple of places offering free WiFi internert access, that I know of

A's Coffee Shop, Soi Buchao and Yellow Cafe by the piers.

Good Luck

There is/was a free hotspot in the itc bulding. It is on the road near Lamai. On the left coming from Chaweang.

Not sure if it is still there, anyone knows?

There's a cyrbercafe near the south end of Chaweng right next to the Sea Beach Resort that will let you hook up your laptop by wireless or by wire for 1 baht/min. As I recall they had a sign in their window adveritizing that you could hook up your laptop there, but I know for sure that you can do it there because I used to go there fairly regularly. There's another, much smaller, cybercafe a short walk from there between the Baan Talay and Munchies resorts that will let you hook up too but they seem to keep erratic hours. This 2nd place charged 2 Baht/min for connecting via wireless but oddly would allow you to connect by ethernet cable for only 1 baht/min. Also on Chaweng, there's a wifi signal that you can receive at the Sportsmen Pub (near the Central Hotel) that is originating from one of the hole-in-the wall shops on the same alley that the pub is on. I haven't tried that one myself, just happened to notice it there, but it appears to be a hotspot where you prepay for your useage. I think their rate is 2 baht per minute but I could be wrong about that.

Like you, I also found that at most of the Cybercafes in Chaweng they will say that you can't hook up your laptop. I'm not quite sure why this is, there seldom appears to be a technical reason for it. But there are some that will let you; there are others besides that ones that I mentions, I mentioned those just because the are the only ones that I remember well enough to be able to describe where they are.

I’m up and running! Thanks for all your help. The shop is called CyberX.

Starbucks. Good coffee, comfy chars plus speedy wifi. 1 day pass is like 150 baht.
