Elite Smile Dental - Dr. Krisada

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Dr. Krisada at Elite Dental?

I broke a tooth or a filling came out or something. Anyway I was around the corner from Elite when it happened so I stopped in to make an appointment with my dentist, Dr. Benjaporn to repair the tooth. Two ladies at reception insisted Dr. Benjaporn does not do fillings and they recommended two Dentists whom I had not heard of. I asked which was "the best" but being Thailand they would not answer that. Dr. Krisada was available this week, the other one was busy for 3 weeks. So I made the appt. with Krisada.

I'm terrified of dentists and especially so in Thailand. Has anyone been treated by this dentist specifically? I'm not interested in other clinic recommendations.

To be honest I don't remember the name of the dentist but I had a root canal filling and a crown fitted at Elite after breaking a tooth and would highly recommend. A tall, skinny guy with glasses, early 30's (though looked younger but then maybe because I'm getting older!)

My work has been by a lady I don't know her name. She has done a filling for me and a cap. she did a great job with my wife's teeth also.

Yes I agree, but in Thailand dentists seem to specialize in one specific aspect of dentistry - which would never work in the West - with the exception of orthodontics. I would have felt more comfortable getting a recommendation directly from Dr. Benjaporn but she was not in when I was there. I did inquire about anesthetics and both ladies assured me there is a good selection on hand.

i had some work done by him a couple years ago, a few fillings and cleaning, as mentioned above he seemed competent. He had no issues giving me anesthetic

I went to Krisada when Benjaporn was on maternity leave. Minor procedure, plus a cleaning. Seemed capable.

Benjaporn is a periodontist, she certainly doesn't do fillings and wasn't ever on maternity leave.

It was Joy (Jutamas Malarat) who was on maternity leave, the best endodontist I've ever come across.

Joy only does root canals and she really gets busy, but if a person can wait she is the person I would go to.

For crowns, etc Dr Min is your lady.She will do simple fillings, but probably try to push you towards Kris.

Dr Joy will go heavy on the anesthetic, but you need to tell her in no uncertain terms, same goes for Min and Kris.

Joy's needle technique is superb and Min is quite good too.

I always go to a dentist called Chadathip. Curious that her name hasn't cropped up and wondering if I could have done a lot better. Who's their best dentist for measuring up and getting sets of false teeth, I wonder......may be doing that soon enough.

Just tell the receptionist at Elite Dr Min, she's really good. She did my crowns after root canals, but also a friends complicated denture and he hasn't had a problem.

Sometimes people use their Thai names, sometimes their nicknames.

So often, if you have a specific name, then google it or go on a dentist's website.

Remember dentist's in Chiang Mai often work in several places, so if they're not available in one they might be in another.

Dr. Krisada was excellent. Can highly recommend him. I even went through the procedure Thai style - no anesthetic! First time in my life. He assured me that he would not be working anywhere near the nerve, that I did not need an injection, and to trust him, which I did. No pain whatsoever. He said that 1/2 my tooth was missing and I really needed a crown but did not try to sell one - he just casually mentioned it. He worked incredibly fast, but skillfully. I was in and out in about 20 minutes tops. 1800 Baht. The best dental experience I've had in Thailand. Elite is a good practice. Both Dr. Krisada and Dr. Benjaporn are excellent.

I recognise him from the photo. I know him as Chris. Replaced a bunch of amalgam fillings with composite for me and actually persuaded me NOT to replace the ones that were in good condition (you risk a some of the old toxic filling particles going down your throat). I take that as a good sign. One year on and all the fillings are fine.

Had a filling done by him a few years back, no complaints, favorite part was when he inspected the tooth, named his price, i nodded then the drill started up straight away, no stupid anesthetic to make me feel like chit for the rest of the day

I had a crown done by a male dentist there. I left for good after I asked for anesthetic, the guy refused, and subsequently hurt me. That was my last appointment there.

Now at Grace dental. Had a full mouth x-ray and bite-wings. The crown that was put on by that male dentist does not fit my tooth and leaves a gap for food to accumulate in. This could eventually destroy the tooth, so I'll need to have Grace replace the crown. That's going to be one very expensive crown, ie, having to replace a crown that should have been professionally made and mounted by a professional, qualified dentist. Hopefully the underlying tooth is not compromised.

There you go. Make your own decision.

Hard to know who the dentist was. There are at least 4 different male dentists.

Turned out Min and Chadathip are one and the same

I have been going to Dr. Chadathip for 3 years. I've had problem bridges removed, dentures made and recently had 10 ceramic veneers done on my front teeth.

In my opinion, you could never find a better dentist in her specialty. She speaks very good English, very thorough, very professional and a very nice person.

That's like an article I read many years ago about a dentist who put a clothes-pin on his patient's ear and assured them that the drill wouldn't hurt. Flash to a picture of a happy kid in the dentist chair with a clothes-pin on his ear as the dentist, with drill in hand, hovered above him. That approach would last approximately 5 seconds with me.

I always find it fascinating how confident Thai dentists are that they won't hurt you. "Trust me!" Yeah right. I've now gone through 6 local clinics and approximately 8 dentists. Out of those 8, I've quit 2 for sub-par work and 6 for hurting me. My dentist in the US and both of his periodontal techs routinely administered anesthetics, and in 14 years of being a patient in his clinic, no staff member every hurt me during dental procedures. That tells me that dental anesthesiology isn't rocket science, but is a simply decision and conviction to keep your patients out of pain. The average Thai dentist simply doesn't care to keep you out of pain, imho.

Now may Dad...different story. He was another individual who would forego the anesthetic and endure the pain because he didn't like the 'numb' feeling afterward. God...<shiver>!

Right. First time I went the no anesthesia route and it worked out fine. No pain whatsoever. Not sure I would do it again as I may have just been lucky this time.

I have had a filling and one cap replaced with no pain killer. The first time was a filling and I thought she was just examining it. Turned out she had put a filling in.

I highly recommend Elite Clinic. There are other fine dentists in Chiang Mai as well as bad ones. I was lucky and went to Elite first. The wife had gone through two dentists and I put my foot down and said no more cheap work. She is very happy with Elite.

The clothes pin worked in about 1/3 of the cases they tried it on. Years ago. I don't think it caught on.

I went though about 6 different clinics including Elite Smile. 

I finally went to Grace Clinic about 3 years ago.  I wish I would have started there to begin with.  I highly recommend Grace, especially if you want to actually be anesthetized while they work on your teeth as opposed to being partially numbed, or not numbed at all.  Famous last words from my last dentist at ES: "Trust me.  It won't hurt."  It did, badly. That was my last appointment with that outfit.  Caveat Emptor.

Dr Chadathip has been my dentist for the past five years, she's truly excellent and the only dentist I'll use - every visit has been completely pain free.
