The spate of armed robberies across the Kingdom has continued seemingly unabated this week, with at least three new cases since Saturday. Two women were robbed of their motorbike under the “5 January” flyover in Phnom Penh after midnight yesterday by thieves allegedly dressed as police, complete with “handcuffs, walkie-talkies and police hats”, said Phsar Depot III commune police chief Phat Saran.

Meanwhile, in Kampong Thom’s Kampong Svay district, three men armed with an AK-47 and a pistol raided a Wing office attached to its operator’s house on Monday night, police said. According to Sin Lenh, Kampong Svay district deputy police chief, the bandits burst in and threatened the operator into unlocking the safe, from which they took more than $13,000.
