PATTANI: -- Two soldiers and a family of three were injured after southern insurgents detonated a roadside bomb while the soldiers were patrolling on the road in Kapor district of Pattani province this morning.

The two soldiers were admitted to Kapor district hospital.

Security personnel later sealed the road off traffic as explosive ordnance disposal police were working to clear the area as more bomb might be hidden to hurt authorities.

The family of three who comprised mother, a 7-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl, was on the way to Karubi school on a motorcycle when the bomb exploded.

They were admitted to Karubi hospital in Pattani for treatment.

and still the carnage goes on with the result that civilians and army personnel are being killed or badly injured on a daily basis something must be done and done now before it escalates into something far bigger .

“If the reduction [in violent incidents] continues further this year we may see an ending to certain types of violence, and maybe the areas could be returned to normalcy — controlled, operated or managed by the local people. This is the hope for the year. [but it] has to be carefully managed until we are quite certain that things are stable” - Panitan Wattanayagorn, a security adviser to the Thai defense minister 2016-02-12.

The military still can't address the root problem of forced assimulation.
