BANGKOK: -- A man who claimed to have made a former popular folk song singer looks half of his age through his “Face Off” plastic surgery technique will face charges of violation of computer crime law for over-advertising causing public confusion.

Dr Boonruang Trairuangworawat, director-general of Health Support Service Department, said on Thursday that there was no medical evidence to support the “Face Off” plastic surgery technique as claimed by Dr Xepeng Chaiyasarn.

He noted that the singer in question, Mr Surachai Sombatcharoen, was given normal plastic surgery which has been administered at most cosmetic surgery clinics or hospitals.

The choice of the wording “Face Off”, he said, was just an advertising gimmick to attract customers, to publicise Mr Xepeng himself and to give false expectation to clients, said Dr Boonruang.

He also said that Xepong was not a real doctor and suggested the Office of Consumers Protection Committee shold take legal action against the quack doctor.

The claim that the “Face Off” technique can reduce the age of a person by half is false and against the consumers protection law, said Dr Boonruang.

Dr Boonruang and officials from his department and Office of the Consumers Protection Committee today inspected a cosmetic surgery hospital where Mr Xepeng allegedly practiced.

He said that the hospital was legally registered and appeared up to standard. However, the hospital claimed that it had nothing to do with the commercial about the “Face Off” technique put up by Xepeng.

What about 'politicians' claiming they have the support of 99% of the population?

What about 'politicians' claiming they have the support of 99% of the population?

I've never seen reports of a bona fide (civilian) politician making such patently ludicrous claims.

Only Generals & their lackeys made that claim.

how on gods earth is he allowed to operate on peoples faces if hes not a doctor???

did the patient not research his background? unbelievable.

Presumably something is lost in translation here if they mean "false advertising" not over-advertising as I would love to see the definition of over-advertising!

Also the computer crimes act is used again? So in other words there is no general advertising standards regulations so there going to get him on a computer crimes technicality?

Face Off? Sounds like a bit frightening to me

Hence the quotes around the word in my post ... I was trying to be generous
